GAIL (LOUGEE) RHOADESROBERT RHOADESI was born in Greenfield, Massachusetts and attended grade school in both Maine and Massachusetts. My early high school days were spent in Massachusetts, later moving to New Hampshire where Igraduated from Monadnock Regional High School in 1965.In December after graduation Robert W. Rhoades, also a 1965 MRHS graduate, and I became engaged, exchanging our vows the following June. Briefly living in Keene, we moved to Bob’s birth town,Quinter, Kansas in July of 1966, where we’ve remained for the past forty nine years, and where we’llcelebrate our 49 th anniversary this June. Although Quinter has been our home since 1966, Bob’senlistment in the USAF brought us to Biloxi, Mississippi, then to Austin, Texas. Later Bob wasassigned to a remote location in the Philippines, and I returned to Quinter. In October of 1969 Bobwas honorably discharged and returned home to Quinter. We were blessed with two daughters; Errin Joye who lives in Texas with her husband Kevin and twodaughters Kaleigh and Lauren. Our second daughter Jenna Rae lives here in Quinter with herhusband Les and children Shiloh, Dalton, Micah and Heidi. Needless to say, life is great and so muchfun with 6 grandchildren.I was fortunate to have owned and operated two restaurants, along with 25 years of various positionsat Gove County Medical Center; CNA, Certified Medical Aid, Medical Assistant, and Certified DietaryManager where I managed the day to day operations of thehospital/LTC kitchen. The last 2 years before myretirement in 2013, I was in the medical recordsdepartment.Bob retired in November of 2012, where hespent most of his career as owner, operator and driver of a semi-truck. Healso welded for a major farmimplement producer, and later retiredfrom maintenance at Gove CountyMedical Center here in Quinter. Our lives are filled with all thethings we love and hold dear;grandkids, family events, fishing, camping and of course sports!Sadly Bob had a heart attack andtriple bypass surgery 9 years ago.Although we’ve made several trips toTexas to visit Errin Joye and her family,Bob prefers to bask in the comforts ofhome, leaving specials trips to me and myadventurous nature.
