Ratherthan a farewell, your graduation heralds a new phase in ourrelationship as you attain greater, brighter heights and asyour university travels with you.Whatever your chosen path and regardless of theopportunities and challenges that you encounter, we arehonoured to have you as a graduate of our university andI wish you every success, happiness and prosperity for thefuture.Professor David LloydVice Chancellor and PresidentProfessor David LloydBSc(Hons), PhD, CChem, FRSCProfessor David Lloyd was appointed ViceChancellor and President of the University of SouthAustralia in August 2012, and took up his positionin January 2013.Immediately prior to beginning this role, ProfessorLloyd was Bursar and Director of StrategicInnovation at Trinity College Dublin, one ofEurope’s oldest and most prominent universities,having been Dean and Vice President of Researchat Trinity between 2007 and 2011. He wasconcurrently the inaugural Chair of the IrishResearch Council.Prior to these appointments, Professor Lloyddirected Trinity Research and Innovation and wasAssociate Dean of Research at Trinity from 2005.He holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) inApplied Chemistry and a PhD in Medicinal OrganicChemistry from Dublin City University, and wasalso a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at TrinityCollege Dublin.Professor Lloyd is a biochemist specialising incomputer-aided drug design, and headed theMolecular Design Group at Trinity, Ireland’sleading innovative drug discovery research group.He also has a strong background in researchcommercialisation, having previously worked asa senior scientist in applied design at De NovoPharmaceuticals, Cambridge where he headedthe company’s ligand-based design therapeuticsdiscovery program.
