The one area where the Trust failed to achieve the required level of performance was there-admission of patients to hospital who had had their operation cancelled. In responseto this, more robust management arrangements have been introduced for patients whohave had their operations cancelled at short notice. This has resulted in cancelledoperations due to ward bed shortages reducing from 126 during the period April 2005 toJanuary 2006, to three for the same period in 2006/07. In addition, measures are in placeto ensure that patients who require re-admission to hospital are given a date within 28days of the cancellation.During the year the Trust delivered key patient access targets three months ahead ofschedule and continued to maintain access targets in other areas as set out below:Waiting Times Target Mar-07Out-Patients No patient waiting over 10weeks for first out-patientappointment (LocalTarget)Achieved & MaintainedElective In-Patients & DayCasesRevascularisation Surgerywithin Cardiac ServicesCataract Surgery withinOphthalmologyNo patient waiting over 20weeks (Local Target)No patient waiting over 3monthsNo patient waiting over 3monthsAchieved & MaintainedMaintainedMaintained21
