As mentioned above, currency exchange rates fluctuated significantly during the year: thedifference between year’s high and low prices for US Dollar exceeded AMD 83, or around24.23% of the year’s weighted average. The highest weighted average price for US Dollarwas observed in November 2009, the lowest – in January and February 2008, with varianceof AMD 82.15 between them. Overall, compared to the open price of the first trading day of2009 and the close price of the last trading day, US Dollar appreciated by 23.7%. Depository Activities Summary 2009As the entity to provide centralized depository and custodian services and to performclearing and settlement for exchange and over-the counter transactions in the capitalmarket, the CDA is closely related to the exchange not only organization and brand wise,but also in terms of operational cycle.CDA customer base comprises both individuals and corporate entities, including securitiesissuers and investment service providers. Services to individuals include opening andmaintenance of securities accounts for registered security holders. Services to corporatecustomers are represented by shareholders registry keeping (for securities issuers) andcustodian services (for licensed investment companies). CDA also performs the transfer ofsecurities from one owner to another resulting from securities buying and selling by stockexchange members. In view of all its functions, the CDA has a key role in protecting thelawful interests of the owners of securities.This section of the Review covers CDA activities in 2009.Table 10.
