Depository Activities Summary 2009As the entity to provide centralized depository and custodian services and to performclearing and settlement for exchange and over-the counter transactions in the capitalmarket, the CDA is closely related to the exchange not only organization and brand wise,but also in terms of operational cycle.CDA customer base comprises both individuals and corporate entities, including securitiesissuers and investment service providers. Services to individuals include opening andmaintenance of securities accounts for registered security holders. Services to corporatecustomers are represented by shareholders registry keeping (for securities issuers) andcustodian services (for licensed investment companies). CDA also performs the transfer ofsecurities from one owner to another resulting from securities buying and selling by stockexchange members. In view of all its functions, the CDA has a key role in protecting thelawful interests of the owners of securities.This section of the Review covers CDA activities in 2009.Table 10.
