First Lady of Atlantic City
1. Being the First Lady of Atlantic City makes you
somewhat of an authority on the topic of First
Ladys. Tell us what you admire most about First
Lady Michelle Obama?
I admire First Lady Michelle Obama’s down to earth
personality. There is also a lot of admiration for her
hands-on approach to motherhood with her two
daughters.
2. What does being a First Lady actually entail?
I think it depends on who you are as a person. For me
it goes from soup to nuts. For instance, you will find me
bringing greetings if my husband has a conflict with his
schedule, hosting bone marrow drives, doing major toy
drives during the holidays, cleaning and decorating my
husband’s headquarters, and even giving him advice
on what to say or not say. Believe it or not, he listens
sometimes. But again, those things I would do whether
I’m the First Lady or not. It’s just who I am.
3. In Las Vegas, Carolyn Goodman was the longtime
First Lady when her husband Oscar was the Mayor.
Now she is the Mayor. Will we ever see Mayor Nynell
Langford on the 7th Floor of City Hall?
I have learned in life to never say never.
4. Your husband is in the midst of yet another
campaign leading up to June’s Democratic Primary
election. How taxing are these campaigns on your
family?
It’s a busy time, but we don’t complain. We all have
a role and we try to do our best in whatever role we
have.
5. Speaking of the election, we know who you will
be voting for. Why should others vote for your
husband?
Mayor Lorenzo Langford has integrity. And that is a
very important trait to have as an elected official. He
also knows and loves the city of Atlantic City. He has
some of the same concerns as the residents. And with
that being the case, he has all intentions to try and

solve a lot of those issues.
6. Being the Mayor and First Lady of Atlantic City
certainly has its perks. You have met and gotten to
know world class celebrities like Paul McCartney,
Jay Z and Beyonce. Who have you met that had you
the most star struck?
Stevie Wonder and Mrs. Corretta Scott King.
7. You were a Playboy Bunny at the old Playboy Casino
and Hotel, true or false?
Yes, I was a Playboy Bunny in 1980.
8. Do you still have your costume?
No way! LOL
9. We have heard that the Mayor, in addition to his
many talents leading the City, is actually quite a
good singer. Is this true?
The Mayor is a great singer! In fact, during the 80’s
we did a lot of duet singing. We won numerous casino
talent shows.
10. Speaking of singers, your goddaughter is R&B
superstar Ashanti. Tell us about her.
Ashanti is as beautiful inside as she is outside. She’s
very humble and giving. We talk at least once a month.
She’s working on her new CD and has a role on the
show Army Wives. I am so proud to be her godmother.
11. What do you think the biggest misconception is of
your husband?
That he’s arrogant, which is not true. He’s just a proud
and confident man, who is comfortable with who he is.
12. Do you think your husband has been treated fairly
by the local media throughout his career?
Not really, but you have to know how to take lemons
and make lemonade.
