Of course, he did not do all of this alone.
He had a true partner in my mom. They
complemented each other in the best
way. Our family was perfect.
So, when the center of our family
suddenly left us, it was not easy. We have
all had to find our own way to deal with
this tragedy and we still are. For me, I
came back to this book. It was not easy,
but as I wrote I felt my dad with me. The
more I wrote, the more I felt my dad’s
presence. It was in this process that I
learned that my dad left me with an
amazing gift. He left me his stories, the
essence of his being.
I had always dreamt of telling my dad’s stories
with him. When my dad died, I thought that
my dream had too. But, now I realize that
through his stories he is still with me. This is
still something that we are doing together.
My life has changed dramatically this past
year and a desire to write has been the one
thing to truly surface. I continue to miss my
dad every single day, but I feel his presence
all around me. He has given me an incredible
gift; my dad and my mom have taught me
that love is the most powerful force in the
universe. With love anything is possible and
it is through this that I am able to write these

words now. My dad may not be with us in a
physical sense, but he is here in every other
sense. My dad truly loved life and he loved
people. So in his honor, take a moment to
smile and think of those you love—past and
present.
It wasn’t until I wrote this book that I truly
learned just how incredible my dad is. I always
knew that my parents had led unusual lives,
but through the process of writing I realized
how much courage it took for them to
accomplish all that they have. So with great
honor, I am happy to present to you my dad’s
