the boat, I noticed that the teak was<br />
painted in some sort of tan paint. It<br />
turned out to be deck stain, like you<br />
would paint a hot tub deck with.<br />
Yuk. Not a good first impression!<br />
As I looked over the boat and visited<br />
with the couple who owned her, I<br />
was impressed with the equipment on<br />
board and the way it had been<br />
maintained. The captain was a retired<br />
naval officer who had purchased the<br />
boat with his wife to live aboard and<br />
cruise. The boat was really set up for<br />
cruising, with propane cooking, cold<br />
plate refrigeration, single diesel, etc.<br />
The more I got to know the boat, the<br />
more I loved her. The poor cosmetics<br />
outside could be fixed. The sturdiness<br />
and seaworthiness of the boat were<br />
what I fell in love with. I made an<br />
offer and left them a deposit on the<br />
spot.<br />
We went through the sea trial and<br />
survey a couple of weeks later. We<br />
found nothing major, with the<br />
exception of massive hull blistering<br />
that the owners had told me about. I<br />
was expecting blisters on a boat of<br />
