ALDABRA TORTOISES are most active in the mornings when they spend time
browsing for food. They dig underground burrows or rest in swamps to keep cool
during the heat of the day.
5 2006-07 ANNUAL REPORT
“As a parent, the Zoo means
great educational experiences
for me and my daughter. It
is great getting close to the
animals. We have had many
memorable times at the Zoo.
I know these are the times
she will remember when she
has children of her own.”
—TAMMY MAHRT, KNOXVILLE
