Shriners Hospitals for Children — Twin Cities Joins Mayo Clinic Care Network The below article is courtesy of Mayo Clinic. Wednesday, March 27, 2013, MINNEAPOLIS — Mayo Clinic today announced that Shriners Hospitals for Children — Twin Cities (Shriners) will build on the decades-long collaboration between physicians in both Pote’s Notes organizations and become part of the Mayo Clinic Care Network. Shriners provides specialized pediatric orthopedic care that serves a seven-state region and is part of a network of children's hospitals located across the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Shriners is the first pediatric hospital to join the Mayo Clinic Care Network. Physicians at Shriners will be able to connect directly with Mayo Clinic specialists on questions of patient care using an electronic consulting technique called eConsults. Physicians also will have access to the latest evidence-based medical information through the AskMayoExpert Continued on page 4 Well, officially, spring is here. I know if you look out the window it may seem otherwise but it really is spring. And if it’s spring, then it must be circus time. I’m sure many of you will be getting this right around the time the circus is beginning or shortly after. If you came to the circus then you need to be sure and attend the aftercircus party at the Osman Event Center. The party always make me forget all the late nights and early mornings during circus week. The party begins at 6:00 P.M. on the 15th of April and the food is always great. Speaking of great food. The St. Patrick’s Day party at the event center was great. The corned beef and cabbage are the best I have ever tasted, and I know the bread pudding was responsible for me having to eat salads for the next week. I’m not sure if Geri is planning on making that an annual event but if she is, I’ll be there, along with my family. It was special at the event because it is my sister-in-law’s granddaughter’s birthday and we had everyone at the party sing happy birthday to her. This was special because she recently moved to California and we all miss the whole family very much. Then it was on to the Legion of Honor meeting/dinner that the ladies are invited to. As I have stated in the past. Any event that involves the ladies is always a great time. As nobles, we need their support in everything we do. On the 12th of March I presided over my first official Stated Meeting as your Potentate. I have always enjoyed stated meetings. It gives me an opportunity to share a meal and conversation with friends. Sometimes I feel like I get more accomplished before and after the meeting than during the actual meeting. For those of you that attended, sorry for making you stand longer than needed. We had a touching video presentation from our Recorder, Tom West. He shared a video he picked up at the Recorders convention. I truly believe we need to get that information out for everyone to see. I know if we could show it around we would have potential members beating a path to our door. Speaking of membership. Warren has come up with some great ideas to help bring in new members. He has challenged the Divan to each bring in two new members. I thinks that’s great but it’ll take more than the Divan. As I have always said, it takes the entire Temple to participate in membership. We all need to work at bringing in new members. The Divan and the membership committee will help in any way possible. Remember sometimes it’s as easy as just asking. Don’t forget. We have a ceremonial coming up Saturday, May 4th. We will be at the St. Paul Masonic Center on Plato. Get yout petitions in. We sure are lucky to be Shriners.
