Now and in the future Information Communication Technology is our way to unlock the world where communication is of more importance at both local and global levels. A Level I.C.T. is a hands on course. You will use the more advanced features of word processing, spreadsheet, database, drawing and desk-top publishing packages to design and develop systems for yourselves. The AS/A2 level courses offer you the opportunity to develop and extend your skills and knowledge in this rapidly developing and exciting area. AS Level consists of three modules, two of which are examined in January and June. ● Module 1: Information: Nature Role and Context. ● Module 2: Information: Management and Manipulation. ● Module 3: Coursework: The Use of Generic Application Software for Task Solution. A2 ICT builds on the skills developed on the AS course. You will have the opportunity to build relationships with local employers by designing and building information systems for them. A further three modules will be studied at A2 level: ● Module 4: Information Systems within Organisations. ● Module 5: Information: Policy, Strategy and Systems. ● Module 6: Coursework: Use of Information Systems for Problem Solving. Entry Requirements Grade C or above at GCSE I.C.T 3 or 4 other good GCSE passes. Specification AQA A and AS/A Level Assessment 2 modules in the first year. 1 minor project in the first year. 2 modules in the second year. 1 major project in the second year. Modules: The pure modules (C1, C2, C3, C4) include calculus, algebra, advanced trigonometry and proof. The Discrete Modules (D1, D2) include algorithms and solutions to real life problems. Mechanics (M1, M2) involves kinematics, statics, dynamics and moments, probability, random variables and distribution. Prospects: The knowledge, skills and attitudes developed during the course are ideal preparation for further study in maths. A level maths is useful for a wide range of degree courses and essential for many scientific and technical ones. Further maths may be available for very able students.
