Madeeha Hasan Odhaib is a member of the district council of Karada, in Baghdad, where she<br />
leads a community initiative to employ Iraqi women as seamstresses—alleviating poverty in the<br />
war-torn region. She is also a dedicated humanitarian who works with the Red Cross and other aid<br />
agencies on local relief efforts.<br />
LEBANON<br />

Rabab al Sadr is a social and human rights activist and a philanthropist. She is a dynamic thinker<br />
and is the president of the Imam al Sadr Foundation, one of the most successful humanitarian<br />
organizations working in Lebanon. <strong>The</strong> foundation’s projects focus on training, development and<br />
poverty alleviation across Lebanon. She is the sister of Imam Musa al Sadr.<br />
LIBYAN ARAB JAMAHIRIYA<br />
gaddafi, his excellency saif al islam muammar<br />
Son of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, Saif al Islam Gaddafi is the president of the Libyan<br />
National Association for Drugs and Narcotics Control and founder of the Gaddafi International<br />
Charity and Development Foundation, which addresses humanitarian and relief efforts in Libya.<br />
Saif al Islam Gaddafi is noted for his ‘Isratine’ proposal for a one-state solution to the Israeli-<br />
Palestinian conflict. He is likely to be the next leader of Libya.<br />
PALESTINE<br />

Khaled Abu Awwad is the General Manager of the Israeli-Palestinian Bereaved Families Forum<br />
and Chairman of Al-Tariq (<strong>The</strong> Palestinian Institution for Development and Democracy).<br />
abu elaish, dr izzeldin<br />
Dr Izzeldin Abu Elaish is a public health expert and Palestinian peace activist nominated for the<br />
2009 Nobel Peace Prize. He is an outspoken advocate of a lasting Israeli-Palestinian peace.<br />
abu sarah, aziz [new]<br />
Aziz Abu Sarah is a Palestinian activist who is globally recognized for his work on peace and<br />
conflict resolution in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He was formerly the director of International<br />
Relations for the Parents Circle - Families Forum, and co-hosted Radio All for Peace, a bilingual<br />
radio show on 107.2 FM in Jerusalem until 2008, when he relocated to the US where he is now<br />
the Director of Middle East Projects at George Mason University’s Center for World Religions,<br />
Diplomacy, and Conflict Resolution. Sarah is also a lecturer and writes for major news outlets<br />
about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and peace movements.<br />
QATAR<br />

Sheikha Aisha al Thani is the founder of the Doha Academy and board member of Reach Out to<br />
Asia, Qatar. She is also a member of the Qatar Supreme Education Council, the highest educational<br />
authority in Qatar. She is a modernist development thinker, who promotes a more pronounced<br />
and well-judged engagement with people of faith. Sheikha Aisha’s perspective resonates with the<br />
more concerted efforts by humanitarian organizations to look at the networks of people of faith as<br />
a solution to practical development problems.<br />
