All Somersett Resident Events & Specials! Holiday Food Drive Through Saturday, November 16 Benefiting the Food Bank of Northern Nevada To those in need, the gift of food this holiday season matters more than ever. Please donate non-perishable food items during the Club’s annual Holiday Food Drive and make a difference to local families. Ideal donations include peanut butter, macaroni and cheese, canned fruits and vegetables, spaghetti sauce, dry cereal, rice and pasta. There is always a need for cereal and canned items that can serve as a meal, such as soups and stews. Donations for the Food Bank will be accepted at the concierge desk. Mah Jongg Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1:30–5 pm *No Mah Jongg is scheduled on Thursday, November 28 and during the week of Christmas and New Year’s Day. Mah Jongg is a challenging tile game that originated in China, and we’re playing it at the Club with the National Mah Jongg League rules and 2013 play card. Join us on Tuesdays and now Thursdays to play or just watch, and feel free to bring a snack and non-alcoholic beverage. SOA Thanksgiving Potluck Saturday, November 9, 6–8 pm RSVP by the Monday before | 12 adults min; 50 max Celebrate turkey season with friends and neighbors from the entire community at our monthly potluck. In November, we’re celebrating Thanksgiving early with our favorite turkey day dishes. We’ll provide the bird for the main feast, and residents are asked to RSVP with a holiday-themed appetizer, side dish or dessert to feed 15 to 20 people. Craft Club Tuesdays, November 12, December 10, 12:30–2:30 pm RSVP by the Monday before Do crafts call your name? Are you working on your latest project at this very moment? Fellow crafters want to see! Join them at Somersett’s craft club to share your work, inspire others and be inspired yourself. Stock the Tree Toy and clothing drive benefiting the children of Virginia Palmer Elementary Pick your angel beginning Saturday, November 16 Drop off all gifts by Monday, December 9 Our Stock the Tree event is a wonderful way to make the season brighter for an at-need child in our community. It’s easy to participate and your generosity will make such a difference. Stop by the Club to pick out an angel from the tree, purchase a gift that is age and gender appropriate, and bring it to the Club by December 9. Please bring your gifts unwrapped – staff will wrap and distribute gifts to the children of Virginia Palmer Elementary the following week. Ninth Annual Sip-N-Shop Saturday, November 16, 3–7 pm | All welcome! For eight years, the Somersett Sip-N-Shop has been the place to find beautiful handmade holiday gifts from local craftsmen. Join us once again to browse these one-of-a-kind treasures as you enjoy food, wine and the company of neighbors and friends. Not only are all Somersett residents invited, this beloved annual event is also open to the public. In November, join the Somersett Book Club in the Welcome Center at The Club at Town Center and get ready to discuss and dissect all kinds of interesting books.
