fundraisers
Donations and fundraisers accounted for over
20% of the school’s $3,028,526 budget during the
2009-2010 school year. Blanchet parents are asked
to annually contribute to three major fundraisers.
These fundraisers, described below, netted over
$202,103 for students and programs. The school
is incredibly grateful for the continued generosity
demonstrated by its supporters.
12th Annual Benefit Auction ~ Roar of the Wild:
An African Safari

made this an event to remember. Dozens of
students sang and danced to music from Disney’s
“Lion King.”
Enthusiastic
supporters
raised their
paddles for
the “Fund an
Item” portion
of the evening
that netted over $30,000 for tuition assistance. A
crowd of nearly 400 parents and donors enjoyed
socializing with their friends and bidding on
hundreds of donated items. While the economy
significantly impacted this event’s proceeds, over
$84,000 was raised to help support Blanchet
operations.
Student Fundraiser ~ Raffle
This year’s raffle offered ticket buyers the chance
to win one of seven prizes including a Traeger
Texas BBQ, pearl necklace, earrings & bracelet,
round trip airfare on American Airlines, a
Nintendo Wii, Victoria B.C. vacation, flat-screen
television and a Blazer ticket package. Every
Blanchet student was asked to sell at least ten $10
tickets, and many exceeded their goal. This raffle
raised $34,930 for school programs.
“Marking a Milestone” Annual Fund
This year’s Annual Fund kicked off the school’s
celebration of Blanchet’s 15th anniversary,
which will be commemorated during the 2009-
2010 school year. The annual fund appeal
encouraged supporters to help “mark a milestone”
by increasing their support of this important
fundraiser. The 2008 Annual Fund netted $87,715.
Other Development Office Highlights
• Grants: Over $200,000 in foundation grants
were received during the 2008-2009 school
year. Grant funds were used to complete a
number of facility projects including installing
new carpet, seating and restrooms in the
Wiegand Arts Center and renovating several
hallways and classrooms with carpet and
paint.
• Archbishop Blanchet Society: The Archbishop
Blanchet Society grew to include 42 donors
who donated nearly $241,000. Blanchet
Society members commit to donating a
minimum of $1,000 annually. Proceeds from
this donor society allow Blanchet to help meet
immediate needs while allowing time to build
an endowment fund.
• Endowment: The school’s endowment fund
grew to $121,093 during the 2008-2009 school
year. Blanchet is working to promote the
importance of planned giving and bequests
to grow the school’s endowment fund. In
the future, interest earnings from Blanchet’s
endowment will help fund student tuition
assistance.
