Message from the President
Welcome to Blanchet Catholic’s 16th annual auction!
We have enjoyed a wonderful start to Blanchet’s 18th year of providing
a quality college preparatory education for Mid Valley youth. We have
many reasons to be proud and excited about the 2012-2013 school year. A
few highlights of the year to date include: the announcement that two of
our students (Spencer Helterline & Kelsey Nanneman) have been named
National Merit Commended Scholars, a tremendously successful Day of
Service that saw 380 Blanchet volunteers donating their time to 21 nonprofit
agencies, and many athletic accolades – such as our volleyball team
who are enjoying an undefeated season.
The auction is an important Blanchet tradition. Tonight we have even more
reason to celebrate. We’ll hold our silent auction in our new Student Center
– the first event to be held in this wonderful new 10,600 sq. ft. addition
to our campus. I hope you enjoy spending time in this beautiful building
and plan on joining us for the official grand opening and dedication on
November 16.
The entire net proceeds from the Blanchet auction are applied to our
operating budget, which directly supports students and programs. Thank
you for your attendance and for your generosity.
Your participation in this event is a tangible demonstration of your belief
in our growing school. On behalf of all of our teachers, staff and board,
we truly appreciate your support of the only Catholic secondary school in
Salem.

General Auction Rules
1. Bidder identification: Each couple/guest has a pre-registered number on
their bidding “paddle,” which must be used for bidding.
2. All sales are final. Items are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged or
returned unless specified. If two bidders are in disagreement, the Auction
Coordinator will accept sealed bids from each, with the highest bidder
winning.
3. Value of items auctioned are donor’s estimates and are not warranted by
Blanchet Auction for tax purposes or general use.
4. Blanchet has endeavored to catalog and describe the property correctly,
but all property is sold “as is” and Blanchet neither warrants nor
represents, and in no way will be held responsible for, the correctness of
a description, genuineness, authorship, or condition of items presented.
No statement contained in the catalog, or made orally at the auction or
elsewhere, will be deemed as warranty representation or assumption of
liability.
5. The Auction Committee reserves the right to change, add to or remove
from the auction any items, even though the same may have been
previously advertised, cataloged, or verbally indicated as being auctioned.
6. Services and non-tangible items (gift certificates): Please review
certificates as soon as possible for stipulations and exceptions. Please pay
attention to all conditions, restrictions and expiration dates. All auction
items and services must be used within one year after October 13, 2012,
unless otherwise noted by the donor.
7. Condominium and vacation home conditions: Arrangements for use of
a condominium or privately owned property are subject to agreement by
the donor and the winning bidder. Specifications in the catalog are those
made by the donor. These friends of Blanchet have been most generous
in donating their properties for your use. It is the responsibility of the
successful bidder to leave these accommodations in the same condition as
they were on arrival.
8. Payment in full for all auction items must be made the night of the auction
by cash, personal check to Blanchet Catholic School or VISA/MasterCard
or Discover. If items are not picked up or not paid for, the Auction
Committee reserves the right to re-sell the items.
9. Removal of sold items must be accompanied by a receipt on departure
and must be taken from the premises, unless arrangements are made the
evening of the auction. Large items may be picked up on Sunday, October
14, 2012 from 12:00 - 3:00 p.m. only.

Silent Auction Rules
All items in the silent auction have bid sheets attached to them or
affixed nearby.
When making a bid:
•Please write legibly
•Include your bidder number on the line of your bid
The silent auction committee will make the final determination of the
successful bidder on any silent auction item.
Persons bidding for silent auction items agree that if a subsequent bid
is disqualified or otherwise stricken for any reason prior to the closing
of bidding, then the last highest bid on the bid sheet will be deemed
the successful bidder. If two bidders are in disagreement, the Auction
Coordinator will accept sealed bids from each, with the highest bidder
winning.
Under no circumstances may the bid sheet be removed except by Blanchet
Auction officials.
Oral Auction Rules
The Oral Auction will continue without interruption until all items are
sold.
To bid on an item during the Oral Auction, the bidder’s personally
numbered bid paddle must be raised in the air with the number facing the
staging area. Spotters stationed throughout the room will indicate bids to
the auctioneer.
The winning bidder’s paddle number will be recorded with the item
number and amount bid. If you are splitting the bid with another bidder,
please contact the bid recorder. See general auction rules as to payment
procedure.
During the Oral Auction, please walk around the perimeter of the dining
tables to reduce undue interruption of the proceedings.

Silent Auction Bid Slips
We want to make it as easy as possible
for our bidders to take home items
from the silent auction.
Bid Increments: This year you will
notice that our bid slips are preprinted
with bid increments - all you
have to do is put your bid number
next to the price you want to bid.
When the silent auction closes, the
bidder with the highest legible bid
wins the item.
Guaranteed Bid: You may guarantee
purchase of any silent auction item at
any time during the bidding process.
Simply place your bid number on
the Guaranteed Purchase line at the
bottom of the bid sheet. Bidding on
that item is immediately closed.
Example:

Dessert auction
Several delicious desserts will be available to bid upon in the Oral Auction
room (Auxiliary Gym). We will provide time (6:45 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.) to
allow you to bid on desserts. This section will close after item #10 in the
oral auction. We encourage you to purchase a dessert to enjoy with your
table during the Oral Auction. Desserts will be delivered to your dinner
table. All auction guests will receive a plate of assorted sweet bites made by
Wild Pear to share with their table.
Sunday Will Call
The auction office will be open from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. for patrons to
pick up their items. If you have to leave the auction early or don’t want to
wait in the cashier line, simply come back on Sunday!
Décor
Much of our vintage garden décor is for sale. If you see something you like
that doesn’t have a bid slip, talk to Brandy O’Bannon or stop in on Sunday
to see if it is for sale.
Vignettes
We have put together some wonderful
vignettes featuring vintage fabric, furniture
and accessories. These vignettes are part of our
decoration for the auction but are also for sale!
