2008 Arctic Winter Games Host Society

Considering the unique nature of the Arctic Winter Games
and its distinctive elements of culture and Indigenous
games alongside traditional sports, the 2008 AWG Host
Society wanted to reflect that in its visual identity. As a
result, the stylized figure of a ‘One Hand Reach’ competitor
is the primary graphic in the logo, reflecting the enduring
spirit of the circumpolar world. As with all previous and
forthcoming logos, the International Committee logo is
incorporated as the overarching element in this graphic,
as if the figure is trying to achieve its goal reaching for that
target. Additionally, the number ‘20’ has been embedded
in the figure, symbolizing the 20th Games milestone of the
2008 Games.
