Yellowknives Dene
Welcome to
Yellowknife, Northwest
Territories, and
its surrounding
communities, Dettah
and Ndilo. We started
as a small gold
mining community on the shores of Great Slave Lake and
became a sophisticated city that is home to almost half the
population of the Northwest Territories.
The 2008 Arctic Winter Games marks a homecoming for
the City of Yellowknife and the Yellowknives Dene First
Nation communities of Dettah and Ndilo. The Games
celebrate their 20th Anniversary in the same location as
the inaugural event in 1970.
We want the 2008 event to be a remarkable and
memorable reunion for past and present athletes, coaches,
staff, volunteers and visitors. It is these people who have
worked hard over the years to make the Games such a
success!
We look forward to celebrating the special anniversary of
the Arctic Winter Games with all, March 9 to 15, 2008.
