Ulus and Awards
One of the most enduring and unique symbols of the
Arctic Winter Games is the Ulu medal, modeled on the allpurpose
knife traditionally used by Inuit peoples. At each
Arctic Winter Games, Ulus are awarded in gold, silver and
bronze to recognize the hard work and commitment by the
athletes with a unique memento from the North.

If you are looking for tickets for:

Please visit our ticket outlets at Birchwood Gallery in
the Yellowknife Mall or at Sutherlands Drugs on Franklin
Avenue. Tickets are also available for purchase online at
www.yktix.com with a small convenience fee. For more

Athletes’ Centre
The Athletes’ Centre is located in the side lot beside City
Hall, just look for the big tent. This is open to the public,
with free admission, and will be the home of the Dene
Games exhibits, pin trading, organization and information
exhibits, and all of the medal ceremonies. Open from
10:00 am to 10:00 pm daily, visit www.awg2008.ca for all
times and events.
