This year, I would particularly like to thank Jeremy
Brassington and his wife Pearl who are retiring
from organising the event every year since the
Horners first took part (2003). They have
welcomed and looked after each participant with
friendship and good humour and have overcome
every challenge with flexibility and goodwill. We
wish Dominic Ely good luck as he takes over the
role next year.

We were delighted that Ellie
Moran (pictured on the right)
was able to sing with the
Horners‟ choir at the last Carol
Service, and in the hope that
members will be interested in her
progress to date, the following
may be of interest.
Elinor has a Masters degree from the Guidhall
School of Music and Drama where she won the
Worshipful Company of Horners‟ Becker
Scholarship and the Tracey Chadwell Prize for
Contemporary Song. She is a successful recording
artist, starring as a soloist on the Gala Ensemble
recording “The Best Of Gilbert and Sullivan”
which spent two months at the top of the classical
chart in early 2009.
Recent classical roles range from operatic
performances of Helena Dream Susanna in The
Marriage Of Figaro to oratorio performances of
Mozart‟s Requiem in the Cadogan Hall. Most
recently, Elinor has performed Michaela in Carmen
for Opera la Gozinere in France and has returned
to the International Festival Of Music in Shannon
as resident artist and principle vocal coach for the
Children‟s Opera Faculty. In addition to her
numerous appearances in concert and opera stages
worldwide, Elinor is in much demand for
corporate and other entertainment, highlights of
which include wearing £100,000s worth of
diamonds for Boodles (someone has to do it!) and
singing on board the Minerva for the Swan
Hellenic Cruise Line. Alongside her busy
performance schedule she is a highly regarded
vocal animateur for a number of world class
companies such as the Royal Opera House, London
and the Canadian Children‟s Opera Chorus.
The Company has been fortunate in its Becker
scholars over the years, but by the very nature of
their calling it is not always easy to keep in touch.
Ellie is an exception.
