Paul‟s Cathedral and Luncheon<br />
6 th – 9 th May: A long weekend in Avignon<br />
18 th May: Peter Pan at the Barbican Theatre<br />
followed by a buffet reception with Director and<br />
cast<br />
3 rd June: Dinner with cabaret at Painters‟ Hall with<br />
a charity blind auction.<br />
Inter-Liver Bridge Competition<br />
On 1 st March 2010 Past Master Ray Anstis and his<br />
son Court Assistant David Anstis competed in the<br />
Inter-Livery Bridge Competition and upheld the<br />
honour and prestige of the <strong>Horn</strong>ers by finishing a<br />
very creditable 7 th out of 60 pairs taking part.<br />
Caption Competition<br />
You are invited to submit your thoughts as to what<br />
our Clerk, Raymond Layard, was saying to the<br />
Prime Minister‟s wife, Mrs Sarah Brown, on the<br />
occasion of the Service of Remembrance at<br />
Westminster Abbey on 11 th November 2009 to<br />
commemorate the passing of the last survivors of<br />
the Great War. Please submit your entry to the<br />
Editor (johnmaccabe@aol.com) and the Clerk will<br />
select the winner who will receive a bottle of Single<br />
Malt whisky from the St. George‟s Distillery in<br />
Norfolk. Closing date for entries is 23 rd April 2010.<br />

Editor’s Footnote<br />
I hope you have enjoyed reading the first copy of<br />
<strong>Horn</strong>blower under my editorship. I would like to<br />
pay tribute to my predecessor, Court Assistant<br />
David Brown, for the very high standard he has set<br />
and which I will endeavour to maintain. I would<br />
also like to thank him for his help and guidance.<br />
My thanks also go to those who have contributed<br />
articles and to David Oxley and Mary Hunt for<br />
their photographs. Articles for future editions are<br />
always most welcome.<br />
