For those of you who haven’t had a chance to visit The Olde Towne Fenton Farmers Market, you still have time! This open air market is available to shop on Saturday’s from 8-1 p.m. and will be running through October 24th. The nice thing about the Farmers Market is that it continues to grow with both vendors and customers. A typical Saturday morning brings in numerous shoppers and one of the things that customers have remarked on is that the vendors are what truly make the shopping experience enjoyable. Kate Buemi (Farmers Market Supervisor) commented “The great prices you will find at our market and friendly exchange between vendors and customers make it a cheerful place to be. I agree, there’s a laid back, take your time and mosey about feel, at the market. I asked Kate what she thought attributed to the markets success this year. “Many of the customers that come thru comment on how great the atmosphere of our market is. The Olde Towne Pavilion is a covered pavilion and offers great lighting throughout.” Kate added, “Even on the most rainy day, customers can stay dry while shopping.” The market has had new vendors join this year as well and according to Kate new ones continue to participate. “Attendance has really picked up this season with the addition of new vendors and people becoming more aware of the market,” Kate commented. “This year we have several new vendors join the market that you will see on most Saturdays: 5 RAMS Star Kettle Korn, Tri- Point Farm, Sandy View Acres, White Family Homemade, Spoke N' Reed, Rose Bud Soapworks and Tower Garden. Of Course we have many favorites still at the market, such as Stuckmeyers, Two Men and a Garden, Palazzolo Farm Fresh Markets and Andy's Produce.” Don’t forget about the “live” entertainment on most Saturdays. In addition, various local nonprofits & community organizations often participate allowing customers a chance to learn something new and educate themselves on helpful topics. The Farmers Market is still accepting vendors and encourages restaurants/businesses to get involved with the market this fall. With over 30 years hospitality industry experience, owner Ed Pupillo has continued to impress customers with his creativity in food choices. Ed incorporates many of his own recipes into many of Grand Slam’s menu choices. Now he brings that creativity to work again, with his new improved Slammin’ pizzas. After several weeks of planning and testing, Ed and his great chef, Terry, have come up with a St. Louis style thin crust pizza. They started with a crispy thin crust shell and added their own inhouse blended pizza sauce. Remember the name Pupillo is Italian. Then they use a four cheese pizza mix of provolone, white cheddar, swiss and munster cheeses. Add your choice of fresh toppings and you get a great pizza. The new pizzas are available in 12” and 14” sizes, they also offer a new 9” Naan flat bread pizza. The pizza is available for dine in or carry out. You can build your own pizza, or try one of their All Star Specialty Pizzas. You can call ahead, order your pizza, come in and relax with your favorite beverage, and your pizza will be ready for carry out a short time later. Or you can dine in and enjoy the great atmosphere at Grand Slam. The slogan at grand Slam is” A great place for friends and family to dine and unwind.” You can watch your favorite sports on one of 25 TVs or the 150” projection TV. They now offer two non-smoking dining rooms, with smoking available only in the bar or outside on the patio. Don’t forget the prime rib dinner on Tuesdays for only $9.99.
