Fenton Fire Protection District<br />
– ISO Rating Change<br />
Beth Viviano, Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Fenton Fire Protection District recently<br />
announced that homeowners in the Fenton Fire Protection District could be paying a little less for their homeowners<br />
insurance thanks to the work of their fire department. The Fenton Fire District recently received a<br />
rating of a 2 from the Insurance Service Office. The ratings range from one, being the best, to ten, being the<br />
worst. According to Mrs. Viviano, “the ratings help define how well a department can serve it’s community,<br />
and can also provide cost savings to homeowners. With the new class 2 rating, there is a savings that’ll be<br />
directly passed on to those residents through their [homeowners] insurance premiums.” There are only 25<br />
class 2 areas in Missouri, no areas with a class one. The fire department is already working with ISO to hopefully<br />
make the necessary improvements to achieve the Class 1 score in the next couple of months.<br />
In addition to having a class 2 ISO rating, the Fenton Fire District is one of 5 Fire Departments in the State<br />
of Missouri to be Internationally Accredited. According to Accreditation Manager, Deputy Chief Timothy<br />
Buehne, “accreditation assures our residences that your fire district is striving to achieve the highest level of<br />
performance by improving service delivery. Accreditation is a comprehensive self-assessment and evaluation<br />
model that the Fenton Fire District has embraced. We continuously assess our current service levels and<br />
compare them to the industry’s best practices, which leads to improved service delivery, and insures efficient<br />
use of taxpayer monies.”<br />
