Rocking at Swarovski
HOLLYWOOD SUPERSTAR Samuel L Jackson is to
host Swarovski Fashion Rocks for The Prince’s Trust
2007. The annual event, which unites the world’s
leading fashion and musical talent on one stage, will
take place at the Royal Albert Hall on October 18.
Confirmed designers to date include Armani,
Burberry, Calvin Klein, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana,
Stella McCartney, Versace and Yves Saint Laurent.
Mayfair-based Nadja Swarovski, vice-president of
international communications for Swarovski, said: “As
Swarovski crystals have been part of the fashion and
music industries since the beginning of the last
century, from the early days of Chanel and Dior to the
album covers and tours of Beyonce and Madonna,
this event has particular relevance for Swarovski.”

Damien Hirst’s latest work, For the
Love of God.
The largest diamond piece
commissioned since the Crown
Jewels, a copy of a human skull, is
set with three times the number of
diamonds in the Imperial State
Crown – 8,601 to be exact.
The skull is on display at White
Cube, Mason’s Yard, until July 7
VARIATIONS HAIR AND BEAUTY,
previously at Fortnum and Mason,
has rebranded as a lifestyle salon at
22 Maddox Street. Called the Patrick
Lüdde Salon and Spa, it is run by
Patrick, whose clients include Zoe
Ball and Natalie Imbruglia, and Neil
Ward – who specialises in long hair.

DESIGNER JOHN ROCHA,
whose career spans 25 years, is
launching his first concept store
at 15a Dover Street (next door
to the Dover Street Market).
Spread over three floors of a
five-storey Grade II listed town
house, the space has been
designed by the man himself.
Due to open in September, the
store will showcase all the John
Rocha fashion collections, plus
an eclectic mix of art and other
commissioned pieces.
INDIAN AND Pakistani artists
made record prices at
Bonhams recently. Indian artist
Jamini Roy’s Musicians
(pictured) sold for £90,000
against an estimate of
£30,000-£40,000, while
Pakistani artist Sadequain’s
Cactus made £57,000.
Kids’ treated
to fun day out

Hard Rock Café’s Pin Wizards:
Design A Pin Competition. The
competition was launched to
raise money for the NSPCC. A
limited edition of Linda’s
winning pin design will go on
sale this month.
SUPERNA SETHI,
who runs Mayfair-based
Manhattan Properties,
scooped the top award at the
Asian Women of Achievement
Awards, held at the Hilton
Park Lane. There were 42
finalists selected across eight
different categories.
Empire gambling
LONDON’S LARGEST CASINO, The Casino at the
Empire, opened last month in Leicester Square.
Set over two floors, the casino houses 30
gaming tables, a private poker room with its own
bar for up to 80 players and state-of-the-art
electronic gaming machines.
There are two restaurants – a noodle bar and
grillroom – a bar, ice creamery, nightclub and VIP
room with a balcony overlooking the West End.

CATWALK CARNABY is a photographic
exhibition of stylish people in Carnaby
Street by Simon Armstrong.
The exhibition at Unit G3, Kingly Court,
shows people who live, work or pass
through the area – including celebrities
such as Kiera Knightley (pictured with
Rupert Friend). The exhibition ends on
July 8. Entrance is free. 10am-6pm.
DAVE WEST, owner of the Hey
Jo club in Jermyn Street,
announced he is to defy the
smoking ban. Lord Hollesley,
who bought his title off eBay
last year, has hired Cherie
Booth QC to advise him. The
flamboyant former East End
barrow boy believes the ban is
a breach of human rights.
