Garth Snow enters his eighth season as the General Manager of the New York Islanders
in 2013-14. A goaltender with the organization from 2001 to 2006, Snow retired as
a player on July 18, 2006 to become the fifth General Manager in franchise history.
A sixth round selection of the Quebec Nordiques in the 1987 NHL Entry Draft, Snow
played twelve seasons in the NHL, including four with the Islanders. He finished his
career with an overall record of 135-147-43 along with a 2.80 goals-against average
and a .900 save percentage over 368 games with the Quebec Nordiques, Philadelphia
Flyers, Vancouver Canucks, Pittsburgh Penguins and the New York Islanders.
On the International stage, Snow represented Team USA at the 1994 Olympics in
Norway and at the 1998 World Championships in Switzerland.
Snow graduated from the University of Maine in 1993 after playing four years with
the Black Bears. He won a National Championship at Maine in 1993 and was named
to the NCAA All-Tournament Team. He also earned Hockey East Second Team All-Star
honors. Snow led the NCAA in victories for three straight seasons from 1990-1992.
During his tenure at Maine, Snow was also a member of the All-Academic team.
While attending the University of Maine, Snow earned a Master’s Degree in Educational
Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.
