Just as locally-based filmmaker David onzalez blogged on his Web site, heSnaz.com, a few months back, ortland has largely surpassed Boulder s the destination for a diaspora of ackson Hole residents in their 20s and 0s seeking a more urban lifestyle than he valley offers. Add to the list of erstwhile Teton ounty dwellers Ben Westenburg, a forer Koshu chef who deejayed around own (and at all-night parties in the baseent of his shared house) under the ame Behnibubu. Westenburg is leaving ackson Hole for “PDX” next week, but ot before spinning one last hurrah at tone Table restaurant Saturday night. Though Stone Table is closed for the ff-season (parties of 10 or more can ake special arrangements), it has omentarily become an “in” spot for pontaneous deejay parties. A mixed crowd piled into the small apas restaurant last weekend, as DJ ikey Thunder commandeered the mpromptu dance party with the help of a isiting deejay. Behnibubu, who will join Mikey hunder this weekend for his farewell erformance, said he will spin the blend f dub step, glitch and glitch-hop that haracterized the unique Jamaican-influnced sound he helped bring to the valey, polishing his own style along the way. oors will probably open after 10 p.m. o cover charge is expected. –Ben Cannon ■ Enthusiasts of recreating in the snowy Stop by The Liquor Store for the COLDEST BEER in town … or join us in the Saloon for DAILY drink specials HAPPY HOUR Mon-Fri 4-7pm GALAXY HOMETOWN friendly people 733-2792 750 W. Valley Advocates for Responsible Development have been fighting for principles of “Smart Growth” in Teton Valley since 2001 and their big event of the year, the Mad Hatter Ball, takes place Friday. The party is a time for folks to meet and greet, and show their creative sides. Food and drink will be provided, as well as cash prizes for the “Most Inspired Hat” and “Best Vision of Growth Hat.” “People tend to show up with all sorts of outrageous and creative hats they’ve designed,” said Chris Lundberg, an event organizer. “They usually have a land-use theme, since our group is all about responsible land use advocacy.” Lundberg said this year has been a successful one for VARD for a few reasons, including a new PUD (Planned Use Development) tool that they hope will be approved by the County Commission the day before the Ball. Art, beef, wine, golf packages, lift tickets and a host of other items will be auctioned off during the evening. The party begins at 6 p.m., at the Milk Creek Grill in Driggs.
