The consumption of fruit <strong>and</strong> vegetables is an important health promoting item <strong>and</strong> is a good proxy for a general<br />
healthy diet. Fruit <strong>and</strong> vegetables are dietary protective factors for several cancers as well as for cardiovascular<br />
diseases. Its consumption seems to decline in many countries but is amenable to interventions.<br />
