Oxford, died riday, October 19, 2012. r. Cash was a native of ranville County and the on of the late James alter Sr. and Alma agland Cash. He served is country in the Army nd was an Army Veteran f the Korean Conflict. r. Cash was very involved in the life of his church, Enon Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, Trustee, Sunday School Teacher, and a Brotherhood member. He owned and operated O H Cash Grocery for 40 years. Recently he helped with local missions in Granville County by delivering “Meals on Wheels” for the Senior Citizens Center. Funeral services were conducted Monday, October 22, 2012 at 3:00 PM at Enon Baptist Church by Rev. Steve Brown, Rev. James C. Shelley, Jr. Burial followed at the Elmwood Cemetery. Surviving are his wife Mattie Sue S. Cash, of 59 years, a son Howell Cash (Angela) of Oxford; brothers, Arthur Lee Cash of Winston Salem, NC, Jane W. Cash, Jr. (Ramona) of Clayton, NC; two granddaughters Heather and Lauren Cash of Oxford. Mr. Cash also has several nieces and nephews. Mr. Cash was preceded in death by a sister, Janie Cash Hecht. Granville Mayors Plan Joint Town Hall Meeting Granville County Mayors Tom Lane of Butner, Darryl Moss of Creedmoor, Jackie Sergent of Oxford, Nancy Alford of Stem and Janet Parrott of Stovall have announced the inaugural Joint Municipal Town Hall Meeting for November 15 at 6:30 pm to be held at the Butner Town Hall, 415 Central Avenue, Butner, NC. Ellis Hankins, North Carolina League of Municipalities Executive Director, will speak about the League’s core principals and provide update on pending legislation on issues of importance to municipalities. This event is the first effort for the newly formed Granville County Mayors Alliance (GCMA). The mayors have come together to create a cooperative alliance of the mayors for the Town of Butner, City of Creedmoor, City of Oxford, Town of Stem, and Town of Stovall. The group is seeking to foster communications among Granville county municipalities, support public policy decisions beneficial to them, coordinate activities among the towns that benefit the entire region, and communicate identified needs to federal, state and regional agencies and organizations, and to the residents of the region. The GCMA is committed to preserving the quality of life in Granville County by building strong and vibrant municipalities through communications and cooperation, progressive public policies, creative planning and land use, civic engagement, and public-private partnerships. If your answer is “yes”, then you’ll be interested in the Granville County Pesticide Collection Day on Wednesday, November 14. The Granville County Extension Office, in cooperation with the NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Pesticide Disposal Assistance Program, a NON-Regulatory and Cost- Free program, will be offering this Pesticide Collection Day for residents in Granville County and all of the surrounding North Carolina counties. County Agricultural Extension Agent Carl Cantaluppi will be the local contact for the event. The Collection will be from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Southern States store located at 607 Hillsboro Street in Oxford. Nearly all pesticide products will be accepted, including banned and outdated pesticides. Please save any portion of the label to help identify the material so you can be assisted with disposal.
