CRAFT FAIR A Fall Craft Fair will be held Saturday, November 3 from 10 AM to 2 PM at Banks United Methodist Church located on Hwy 96 N in Wilton. The event will feature a Bake Sale, Hot Dogs and Soup for sell, hand made gifts and Christmas Crafts. TWO CHURCH HOLIDAY BAZAAR/ YARD SALE The Creedmoor United Methodist Women and Butner Community Methodist Women will host a “Holiday Bazaar” Saturday, November 3, from 7 a. m. to 2 p.m. in the Fellowship Building of the Creedmoor United Methodist Church, located at 214 Park Ave., Creedmoor. There will be beautiful handmade crafts, gift baskets, and homemade baked goods for sale. There will also be fresh baked biscuits (sausage and country ham) along with breakfast pastries, coffee, hot chocolate and more available. Lunch will include hot dogs with all the trimmings, homemade soups and cookies. Soup will be sold by the quart after lunch. In addition to the bazaar, there will be a huge yard sale with house hold items, clothing, furniture and much more. This will be held under the picnic shelter behind the church. HOLIDAY WALK The 2012 “Holiday Walk ‘N Shop For The Cure” sponsored by the Oxford Parks & Recreation Department will be held Saturday, November 3rd, beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the parking lot on Little John Street beside the Oxford Baptist Church. Register in advance (or make a donation) at Oxford Parks and Recreation Department M-F, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or register the day of the event beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the start site. This is a 5K and 1 Mile walk. $10.00 donation is requested. Donations will also be collected at different intersections in town between the hours of 9:00 and 12:00 so drivers can drop a donation in the cup for the cause. In addition, Holiday Open House all All proceeds benefit mer-chants will be hosting the annual day. the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund for Breast Cancer Research. RECYCLE AND COLLECTION DAY A Recycle and Collection Day will be held Saturday, November 3rd at Creedmoor Elementary School located at 305 E. Wilton Avenue in Creedmoor from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Metch Electronic Recyclers will be collecting all electronics, most anything with a plug or battery. Pro Shred will provide confidential document shredding. TURKEY SHOOT A Turkey Shoot sponsored by Granville County Concerned Bikers Association will be held each Saturday night November 3rd through November 24th at Granville County CBA Lodge on Hwy 50 in Creedmoor. The shoot will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will end at 10:00 p.m. Participants will be shooting for turkeys, hams and pork shoulders. Food and drink will be available. HORSE SHOW BENEFIT A “Jump For the Children” horse show, benefitting Duke Children’s Hospital, is scheduled for Tuesday - Sunday, Nov. 6th - 11th, beginning at 8 a.m. at the Gov. James B. Hunt, Jr. Horse Complex, 4601 Trinity Road in Raleigh. The Duke Children’s Hospital Grand Prix will be held Saturday, Nov. 10th, starting at 8 p.m. Admission is $10 per person,, children under 10 free. Box office opens at 6:30 p.m. Admission to the show is free except for Saturday night. Proceeds from the horse show benefit Duke Children’s Hospital in Durham. Youth from Franklin, Granville, Vance, and Warren Counties will participate in the show and exhibit Silver-Laced Wyandottes and Araucana/Ameraucana chickens. Both breeds are great egg producers and the Araucana/ Ameraucana is particularly special and well known for their colored eggs. Granville County 4-H has seventeen youth participating in the 2012 Poultry Pullet Chain. VETERANS BREAKFAST PLANNED Granville County Senior Services, along with Amedisys Home Health and Hospice, will hold a Veteran’s Breakfast on Friday, November 9th, beginning at 8:30 a.m. This will be held at the Oxford Public Works building. There will be a catered breakfast, speakers, vendors and a pinning ceremony. All branches of the military are welcome and the surviving spouses of veterans are also welcome. HOLIDAY ART MARKET The Granville Arts Council is pleased to present the Holiday Art Market to be held in Butner on November 10th, 2012. CRIME PREVENTION SEMINAR A “Refuse to be a Victim Seminar” cosponsored by the Creedmoor Police Department and the Sir Walter Gun Club will be held on Saturday, November 10, from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the Creedmoor Methodist Church located on Park Avenue. In recent weeks there have been a number of incidents in Creedmoor involving breaking and entering of vehicles, larceny, and damage to personal property. This seminar will help to address crime prevention and how to avoid being a victim. The seminar is free and open to the public and is being conducted as part of Creedmoor Police Department’s efforst to address Crime Prevention and Personal Safety. NRA Certified Instructor, Marc R. CEREMONY SCHEDULED The Town of Butner will hold a Veteran’s Day Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 12th at the Soldiers Memorial Sports Arena located at 416 24th Street in Butner. The event will feature Military Vehicles, Favors for the Children and much More! HOLIDAY WORKSHOP The “Taming the Holiday Hurries Workshop” is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 13th from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the N. C. Cooperative Extension, Granville County Center, 208 Wall Street in Oxford. NEW SERVICE Vance-Granville Community College’s Small Business Center will offer a new service in which area residents can receive free legal advice from lawyers who have expertise in small business matters. The Small Business Center is partnering with the North Carolina Lawyers for Entrepreneurs Assistance Program (NC LEAP) to present “Ask a Small Business Lawyer,” a full morning of free 30-minute, one-on-one private appointments with attorneys, on Thursday, Nov. 15. Meetings will take place in the Student Learning and Success Center in Building 1 on VGCC’s Main Campus in Vance County. “The only requirements to take advantage of this opportunity are that you make an appointment and that you have a legitimate business issue to discuss with the lawyer,” said Tanya Weary, director of the VGCC Small Business Center.
