Charlotte<br />
Charlotte was incorporated in 1768, named in honor of the wife of King George III,<br />
the reigning English monarch. Even though the residents disagreed with laws set<br />
forth by Britain, naming the town Charlotte was in hopes to win favor with the King.<br />
Tennis<br />
The 17th-largest city in the U.S., Charlotte is the largest trading center<br />
in the southeast and the second-largest nancial center in the U.S. (NYC)<br />
Charlotte is home to two of the largest banks in the nation - Bank of America<br />
and Wells Fargo. It is the largest and most accessible city between<br />
Washington, D.C. and Dallas, Texas , earning the nickname, “International<br />
Gateway to the South.” Eight Fortune 500 corporations are in the Charlotte area.<br />
