Interfaith Youth Core
The Hope Project implemented the Interfaith Youth
Program sponsored by Inter-faith Youth Core, Chicago,
USA. It was the first time that 52 young adults (both male
and female) from the community visited the religious
places of all faiths (Jama Masjid, Bangla Sahib Gurdwara,
Judah Hyam, Birla Mandir, and Sacred Heart Cathedral).
This exposure developed mutual respect for the different
religions and a relationship based on shared values.
Participants were also trained in 'First Aid' by the Red Cross
Society and each was given a First Aid Box to help his/her
neighbor in an emergency. This is intended to create a sense
of community that would go a long way to ensure peace,
tranquility, and harmony.
Shan-e-Nizam
The guided tour through the Basti continued to attract individuals and
groups from different countries of the world. The trained youth are
given an opportunity to learn about the unique heritage of the basti
and share it with the rest of the world. While the young guides have
earned a modest income through these tours, the visibility of the Hope
Project has significantly increased. During the year 2010-11, as many
as 52 travelers from UK, USA, Netherland, Germany, Singapore,
France, Switzerland, Australia, Canada and India visited the Basti and
the Hope Project. A few remarks:
