CUSTOMER TESTIMONIAL
“The service from the Nexonia team
throughout the implementation
process was exemplary. The expense
report mobile and web-based
product is easy to use and teach.
And, although users were quite
apprehensive using new technology
at first, we have only heard positive
comments from our staff.”
Delighting Customers with
Unbeatable Integrations
The Partner Channel (TPC): Tell us
about the road that led to Nexonia.
Neil Wainwright (NW): I was trained
as a software engineer back in the
mid ’80s and worked for a number of
dot-com companies, but I caught the
entrepreneurial bug early on. It always
bothered me during those years that
the companies I worked for never had
good time-and-expense solutions.
About 13 years ago, I was having a
beer with my co-worker, Pascal Paradis-
Théberge, after playing beach volleyball
– I was much younger then – and we
decided to start a business together.
Soon after, we left our jobs, built
our product, and have bootstrapped
Neil Wainwright, CEO
Nexonia to become the stable and
flexible platform that it is today,
offering expense reports, timesheets,
PO, and AP.
We’ve always been a software as a service (SaaS) product even back when the
world didn’t know what SaaS was. Then about seven years ago, we moved into
mobile. We were proud to be one of the very first 552 apps on Apple’s App Store.
And actually, we were the first and only expense management app back then.
TPC: Oh, we love those stories; it sounds like it was meant to be! Did you have
a vision of what the company has turned into today?
NW: Well, our first goal was to build the product in six months, sell to Google,
and retire, but both Pascal and I have a passion for delighting our customers with
our products and services, so it didn’t exactly work out that way. After 13 years in
business, we have almost 100 employees, two locations, and six products. We’ve
never really had a growth target. We focus on making sure our customers are happy
and by nature, we grow quickly at about 80 to 100 percent a year.
TPC: That’s awesome! How exactly do you delight your customers with your
products and services?
NW: We’re always saying “yes” to our clients’ requests and suggestions. It’s about
them, not us, and we spend a lot of time on our product BECAUSE of our customers,
never losing sight of that end goal.
A unique thing about us is if a customer comes to us wanting a new integration
