Ulster University’s dynamic and innovative research institution has an excellent track record in the education<br />

and training of researchers. A programme of full-time study leading to the award of PhD lasts three<br />

years; part-time study is for six years. Students will be supervised, assessed and provided with training<br />

throughout the period of study. Department for Employment and Learning (DEL) candidates should have<br />

ordinary UK residence to be eligible for both fees and maintenance. Non UK residents who hold ordinary<br />

EU residence may also apply but if successful will receive fees only.<br />

Research - PhD Study Opportunities: Studentships for full-time study are available<br />

for eligible applicants on a competitive basis. These are generally advertised<br />

during the period January to March each year, although some funded places<br />

might be available at other times. Studentships may be available at any campus<br />

of the University. Lists of projects are published annually at www.ulster.ac.uk/<br />

researchstudy<br />

The University offers PhD and other research study in a broad range of areas including<br />

Life & Health Science, Arts, Art, Design and the Built Environment, Social<br />

Sciences, Computing and Engineering and Business & Management.<br />

Candidates should hold, or expect to hold by 15 th August 2016, a first or upper<br />

second class honours degree in a relevant subject.<br />
