SILKSCREENING ON FABRIC
INSTRUCTOR Margot Van Lindenberg
Imagine your own images on fabric! Print your own designs on
canvas, yardage or T-shirt using inks and pigments. You will
learn how to print with hand-cut stencils and how to transfer
your design on the screen using the photo emulsion process. A
silkscreen will be supplied to use in class to create unique textiles
for artworks or functional pieces. Most supplies are included in
the fee, but please see your course supply list online for practical
items. Be sure to come prepared for the first class.

TEMARI BALLS
INSTRUCTOR Oxana Lyashenko
Temari balls are a folk art form that originated in China and made
it way to Japan in the 7th century and has been treasured in
both cultures for centuries. The intricate designs that are created
through wrapping brightly coloured thread around a ball form,
symbolize friendship and loyalty and well wishes for a happy life
to the recipient. Your instructor will discuss the history and show
you, step by step how to create your very own Temari balls. You
will be able to pick your colour palettes and patterns to make one
of a kind art pieces. Many of your supplies are included in the fee,
but please see the course supply list online for some items. Be
sure to come prepared for the first class.

Temari balls are traditionally given as presents on New Year’s Day
as a symbol of friendship and loyalty. Make your own temari ball
to give as a gift, or keep for yourself. Your instructor will have
simple patterns for you to choose from and will lead you through
the process from start to finish. Please see your course supply list

GLASSBLOWING I
INSTRUCTOR Alana Biffert
Discover the beauty of glass as a medium for artistic expression.
You will learn the basic processes of hot glasswork, with a focus
on solid and simple blown forms, in a studio environment limited
to eight students in order to give you optimum access to all
equipment and to your instructor. NOTE: ONLY natural fibre
clothing (cotton), long pants and closed-toe shoes are mandatory
in the hot shop at all times. Please see your course supply list
