each week. You will discuss proportions of the figure while you
also focus on tone, colour, form and the relationships of space
within your surface. You will look at examples from art history
and discuss how to add expression and emotion into your work.
The use of oil or acrylic paints is optional and individual technical
guidance will be provided for both mediums. Please see your
LANDSCAPE PAINTING II
PREREQUISITE Previous painting experience (acrylic, oil, or
watercolour)
INSTRUCTOR Jamie Morris
For the artist who has some experience in painting and wants
to build a stronger individual voice. You will view examples of
landscape art as it has changed through the centuries in order
to discuss both traditional and contemporary approaches which
highlight important aspects of painting. Technique and content
will be addressed in tandem to develop the strengths and
particular qualities of each artist. This is not an assignment-based
course, but is of benefit to artists who have source material from
their own investigation of the landscape such as photographs
and drawings, and who want some direction in the process
that follows. Everyone will be invited to share experiences from
his/her travel and explorations, making an atmosphere that is
mutually supportive and encouraging. Group discussions and
critiques will be a valuable learning experience for all. You can
choose to work in acrylic, oil, or watercolour. Please see your
course supply list online. Be sure to come prepared for the first
class.
