Match Reports By Tony Rickson Tuesday 10th November 2015 League Sittingbourne 1 Walton Casuals 2, Att 93 Walton were impressive opponents and should have taken an early lead when Billy Frenchs back pass was intercepted, but Jono Richardson cleared off the line and offside was given in the scramble that followed. There was huge controversy in the 16th minute when Hicham Akhazzan got behind the Casuals defence, dummied the keeper so that he went to ground, only to see his shot saved by what seemed the covering defenders arm. Even the assistant referee flagged and Sittingbourne appealed furiously, but the referee was having none of it so Walton escaped a penalty and an almost certain red card. Walton had plenty of possession but their finishing at this stage was weaker than their build-up play, and it was Sittingbourne who went ahead in the 36th minute. Akhazzan hit a great free-kick just beyond the far post for Harry Smith to head his first goal in nine games, the assistant referee ruling that it was over the line before a Walton defender cleared. Sittingbourne made a positive start to the second half and had fairly polite appeals for penalties for challenges on both Harry Smith and Luchford turned down. Smith was also denied by the diving keeper after Akhazzan had set him up with the chance. Sittingbourne changed their midfield midway through the half with Peter Smith and Bankole withdrawn, but it rebounded on them as Walton scored twice in the next 10 minutes to grab all three points. First, midfielder Sammoutis, who must be one of the best players seen at Woodstock this season, hit a great leftfoot shot first time from the edge of the area to repeat the goal he scored for Walton in that FA Trophy win. A few minutes later and Sittingbourne were again guilty of failing to close down the shooter quickly enough as Medley fired into the top corner from all of 25 yards to win the game. Sittingbourne tried to respond and finished the game strongly, but the damage had been done, though they still look far too good a side to be sucked into a relegation scrap.
