3. Facility Updates
Facilities
Concern with the slope of entrances to Zone C and D for the winter season.
Snow removal and salting taken care of prior to start of market. Salt boxes are
left out and available during market.
Action: Look into installing strips for snow/ice.
Eaves trough leaks in Zone B, C and D currently being repaired.
Heat a concern in Zone C during summer months. All vents should be cleaned
in the fall.
Action: Investigate installation of fan in window in south entrance of Zone C and
cleaning of vents.
Parking
Accessible parking still a concern. All front parking spots on east side should be
designated as accessible parking. Curb cuts are required from church parking
lot.
Action: Contact By-Law Department regarding more accessible spots.
Dumpster
Garbage is overflowing. Garbage bins should be locked.
Action: Contact Modern Landfill for installation of locks.
Tables
Tables should be bolted down or chained so that they cannot be moved.
Action: Investigate by-law and consult with vendors regarding the bolting down
of tables
Signage
More entrance and pathway signs required to identify market.
There is a need for more signs, bigger signs and better placement of signs
regarding No smoking and No dogs.
All vendors require signage identifying themselves.
Action: Investigate by-law regarding market signage.
4. Special Events
Bringing in the Harvest great success. Approximately 100 kids participated in
the crafts facilitated by City of Welland, Dena the Craft Lady and Friends of the
Greenbelt who will also participate in Christmas at the Market
5. Market Attendant Report
Dogs
Several dogs present at market. Signage a concern – need for more signs,
bigger signs and better placement of signs.
Smoking
Smoking at the market a concern. Need for better or bigger signage.
Suggested that the region could possibly run a No-Smoking information
session at the market.
Action: Investigate both City and Niagara Region smoking by-law.
Picnic Tables
Picnic tables being dropped off for special events resulting in the need for LF to

emove them from building in the morning prior to the start of the market.
Action: Chain tables upon drop off or deliver day of event.
6. New Business
Christmas hours – Bonus Market to be held Wednesday, December 23 from
6:00am-12:00pm or 2:00pm-7:00pm
Action: Survey to be conducted with market vendors regarding availability
during Christmas season.
Goals:
Increase attendance
Better promotion of market: portable message board in middle of market,
brochure, directional signage throughout city, especially from 406.
Enhance aesthetics to make it more inviting
Make market experience an enjoyable visit
Fill more vendor spaces
Expand use of buildings through private rentals
Hold events to address community issues such as
poverty/homelessness
Designate market stalls with some sort of markings
Action: Develop mission statement and delegate tasks to accomplish goals.
7. Correspondence
AM Jensen Cheese vendor retiring.
Action: Waitlist phone calls will be made to fill vacancy.
