The Leeton G.un Club's monthly shoot as advertised was
difficult enough without the added difficulty of poor visibil-
ity. The program consisted of Double Rise and Deauville
Doubles events.
With the day being rainy and overcast the pairs of black,
targets were soon lost in the gloom.
However, the 45 shooters who attended were on their mettle
and some good scores were carded.
Three generations
a Three generations of Salafia family - Chris, Tony jnr, Paul
and Tony snr.
The Salafia family of Leeton were particularly pleased with
the day as they had three generations of shooters on the
tracks.
Tony Salafia snr, visiting from the coast, heads a very
enthusiastic clay shooting family.
His son Tony has been one of the Riverina's most consistent
title winners, while his grandsons Tony, and twins Chris and
Paul, are fine shots for their age and experience.
Unfortunately "young" Tony was unable to attend on
Sunday, but the rest of the family were out in force with Tony
junr's wife Pat helping with the afternoon teas as always
Only one possible was carded in the eye-opener of five pairs
Double Rise. This was shot by Angelo Paonne, of Leeton.
Leeton and District Double Rise Championship of 10 pairs
was shot from 15 metres: with Allan Walker, Narrandera Gun
Club 19/20, first; after a hard fought shoot-off with Max
Stanmore, 33140, second; and Max Stanmore, Leeton Gun
Club, 30140 third.
Woman shooter: Alice Walker, Narrandera. Front Marker:
Neville Sheehan, Barellan Gun Club 12/20,
The win by Alan Walker gave him a winning double for the
weekend as he brought in the only possible in the Double Rise
Championship held at Wagga on Saturday, as well.
Leeton and District Deauville Doubles Championship of 20
pairs shot from 20 metres resulted: George and Craig Cealey,
Nwrandera 23/23 pairs, first; Allan Walker and John Blain,
Narrandera, 22/23, pairs, second.
The day finished with a 20 target Double Barre' Sweepstake
from 16 metres.
Nine possibles were carded and the sweeps divided by Gus
Mallamace, Tony Salafia, Fred Schmetzer, Angelo Paonne,
Noel McDermott, Mark O'Mahoney, Allen Bound, Sam Papa-
sidero and Glen Evans. 0
The State Council is currently reviewing all administrative
procedures with the view to provide the optimum orgariisation
to meet the needs of Zones, Clubs and Shooters. All
progressive associations must constantly consider the need
for change to ensure that they keep up with the changing
started to be put into effect to the betterment of Victorian
V.C.T.A. Administration Fee Increase
At the November meeting of State Council it was unanimously
decided that the Administration Fee be increased from
$2 to $10 being consistent with other States some of which
have a fee in excess of $10 per club. This increase is necessary
to help offset rising costs such as postage and photo copying
etc. The President earnestly requests your support re this
increase which in the majority of clubs represents only a few
cents per member.
from the Department of Police & Emergency Services of
Individual clubs who applied for a grant and supplied
the necessary information received a share of the grant. A
sum of $500 has also been allocated to each Zone to assist with
Zone Training Programs.
