In Week 6, Houston captured its second win of the season with a 31-20 victory over Jacksonville at EverBank Field. The Texans struck first with a
clock-crunching, 16-play, 99-yard drive (8:24) in the first quarter that resulted in a 14-yard touchdown pass from QB Brian Hoyer to RB Arian Foster, 7-0.
The Jaguars battled back to tie the game, 7-7, early in the second quarter after a 14-play, 75-yard drive (6:55) was capped off with a two-yard TD reception
by WR Allen Robinson from QB Blake Bortles. Though Jacksonville did not score again in the first half, the Jaguars’ defense limited Houston to just a field
goal in the second quarter, a 41-yard kick by Nick Novak that gave the Texans the upper hand, 10-7, heading into the half. Jacksonville manufactured a
strong defensive showing in the third quarter, holding Houston scoreless for the entire period. Bortles added another passing touchdown when he connected
with TE Julius Thomas on a 29-yard score to claim the lead, 14-10. The fourth quarter, however, did not play as favorably to the Jaguars, as Texans
opened with 21 unanswered points. On its first drive in the final frame, Hoyer captained a nine-play, 81-yard drive (3:45) and found WR DeAndre Hopkins
for a nine-yard touchdown. Houston’s next possession ended quickly, needing only four plays to gain 46 yards and resulting in a 26-yard touchdown pass to
Hopkins, his second score of the game. CB Andre Hal lifted the Texans to a 31-14 lead when he intercepted Bortles and returned it 31 yards for a touchdown,
one of three Texans interceptions on the afternoon. Jacksonville fought back with a 12-play, 80-yard drive (3:23) that ended with an 11-yard touchdown
catch by WR Allen Hurns, but the Jaguars were unable to overcome being outscored, 21-6, in the final quarter.
