From the Programme editor
Firstly a welcome to the Sittingbourne “old boys” now at Ramsgate, and a welcome also to the
faithful supporters of our great club, and I hope that you are all having a great Christmas. Also
a big thank you to Rainham car dealers Hidson’s for sponsoring todays game. Hidson’s have
been a great supporters of ours for many seasons now, and as a thank you I am even thinking
of buying a car from them!!!
It’s great when ex players of non league clubs make it and there are many examples of this.
The latest is Rob Elliot who has stepped in at Newcastle United with first choice Tim Krul injured
and is doing such a fantastic job between the sticks. Rob joined our reserves in January
2002 as a 16 year old and made his debut in a goal less draw at home to Hythe Town—you
can read Mike Ling’s report of that game on our web site archive pages by searching Rob Elliott
in the search engine on the home page,
(Elliot was spelt incorrectly as Elliott so you
need to search for that!.)
Congratulations to Nick, the player management
team and the players for the recent
performances, especially the 6-2 victory at
Peacehaven & Telscombe . Incidentally the
last time Sittingbourne scored 6 was against
Ramsgate!!! On 30th January 2010.
Its nearly the end of 2015 and we look forward
to some exciting developments in 2016,
none more so than the plans for a new
ground for us. Our chairman will keep you up
to date with progress.
We know that we have some of the best supporters
in this league and I want to give my
own personal thanks to you for your support.
I also want to thank Tony Rickson and my
brother John for all the help they give me in
producing this programme.
Have great new year.
Peter
