On Mother’s Day, we put a saddle
on Klassic Roxanne (Bayram/Wes-
Kays Kold Kash by Khambridge ox),
aka “Roxy”, and lunged her in the
ring. I had put a saddle on her before,
but not tightened the girth.
We also lunged her several times
in the last year. This time, we put
an old endurance saddle on her.
It’s synthetic and doesn’t weigh
much. She bucked a little on the
lunge line but that was good.
Then we put on John, my 11-yearold
grandson. Rena led Roxie once
around the ring each direction.

Then we put Ellie on (10 years old)
and did once around each direction.
So far so good! Jack (Rena’s husband)
asked me, “when is Rena going
to ride?” and I said, “Next!” So,
Rena got on and I led Roxy, just
once around, since everything was
going so well. That was a good
first day!
Roxie is going to love trail riding.
We are still hoping she will grow a
little taller. Her dam is only 14.2, so
if she would just make 15 hands,
that would be great!
