Glacier Express 

Zermatt – St. Moritz 

From the Matterhorn to the Upper Engadine or vice versa. Travel on the famous Glacier Express – one of Switzerland’s 

best scenic train rides across the Alps connecting two of the most popular resorts – Zermatt and St. Moritz. 

The entire journey takes around 7.5 hours and crosses 291 bridges, passes through 91 tunnels and climbs over the 

2033 m high Oberalp Pass. There are of course faster ways to travel but none as beautiful as the journey by Glacier 

Express, the panoramic train traveling right through the Swiss Alps. Here the journey is very much the destination.

Day 1: Arrival Zermatt 

Transfer by train from the border, airport or any other destination in Switzerland to Zermatt. Short walk to your hotel 

and check in. 

Zermatt lies at the foot of the Matterhorn. The town‘s touristic development is closely linked to what is most probably 

the world‘s most famous mountain. Zermatt is a car-free zone, has preserved its original character and offers 

nearly unlimited possibilities as far as excursions are concerned. 

Overnight in Zermatt. 

Day 2: Zermatt - St. Moritz with Glacier Express 

Today you take the world famous Glacier Express for a thrilling ride in panoramaic carriages to St. Moritz. Take in 

some of the most dramatic scenery Switzerland has to offer. The journey is commentary, via complimentary headphones 

and explains the amazing engineering feat in overcoming extreme altitude variations by train. After an exhilarating 

trip, you will arrive in St. Moritz, the world famous holiday resort. Overnight in St. Moritz. 

Day 3: Departure 

After breakfast you can enjoy St. Moritz a little bit longer and visit some of the many shops in this town or participate 

in one of the traditional sports, such as hiking, climbing or enjoy a spot of sailing, windsurfing, a rubber dinghy ride 

on the River Inn, tennis or horseriding. In addition, St. Moritz with a total of four golf courses is a golfer`s paradise.

Bernina Express 

St. Moritz – Tirano – Lugano 

The Bernina Express runs through the ancient landscape of Switzerland‘s beautiful Grisons (Graubünden) making 

short work of the 55 tunnels, 196 bridges and steep inclines along the way. Special observation cars will let you 

admire the route as well as the mighty glaciers, viaducts and palm trees from the comfort of your seat. The final 

stretch of the Bernina Express line has been classed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2008. For some 

southern charm you change in Tirano to the Bernina Express Bus which will take you onwards to Ticino. Through 

the vineyards to Veltlin and along the banks of Lake Como this lovely journey ends in Lugano, Ticino’s largest town.

Day 1: Arrival St. Moritz 

Transfer by train from the border, airport or any other destination in Switzerland to St. Moritz. Short walk to your 

hotel, check in and leisure time. 

King Carl Gustaf of Sweden is only one of the many prominent guests of St. Moritz. St. Moritz is often called an Alpine 

metropolis. There are numerous luxury hotels, spas and upscale shops against an Alpine background of lakes 

and mountains.

Day 2: St. Moritz - Lugano with Bernina Express 

Board the narrow-gauge Bernina Express at St. Moritz station and enjoy one of the most impressive scenic rail 

journeys Switzerland has to offer. Climbing over the spectacular Bernina Pass to more than 2253 m you pass snow 

covered mountain peaks and glaciers then descend towards Poschiavo and Brusio. Travel over circular viaducts and 

pass through winding tunnels before reaching Tirano in Italy which is the end of the Bernina line. Change to the 

Bernina Express Bus which will take you onwards to Ticino. Through the vineyards of Veltlin and along the banks of 

Lake Como this lovely journey ends in Lugano – Southern Switzerland’s largest town. Overnight in Lugano.

A fascinating rail journey with the slowest express train in the world. It is a spectacular alternative to a flight over

Rhine gorge, over the Oberalp pass (2,033m/6,670ft) and along the deep valley of the Rhône, the Glacier Express

Lucerne – Lugano 

The Wilhelm Tell Express links two of Switzerland’s most attractive regions: Central Switzerland and Ticino. 

It starts with an unforgettable cruise aboard a vintage paddle steamer from Lucerne to Flüelen. It is 

then on to the Italian-speaking part with its Mediterranean climate, palm trees and glittering blue lakes. 

It’s hard to believe that a cruise of this length of duration is possible on Lake Lucerne. One repeatedly 

has the feeling of simply being on a small romantic lake, encircled by idyllic places and nearby mountains. 

But then the steamer makes a gracious turn around a headland, just where the lake seems to

Day 1: Arrival Lucerne 

Transfer by rail from the border, airport or any other destination in Switzerland to Lucerne. Short walk from the railway 

station to your hotel. Depending on arrival time, you will have the opportunity to discover the Old Town. Lucerne lies 

on the river Reuss, at the end of Lake Lucerne, framed by impressive mountains. The city has been a stronghold of 

tourism since 1840, thanks to the well-preserved Old Town with its Chapel Bridge and Water Tower.

Day 2: Lucerne - Lugano with Wilhelm Tell Express 

The Wilhelm Tell Express links two of Switzerland’s most attractive regions: Central Switzerland and Ticino. The trip 

starts in Lucerne as you board a nostalgic paddle steamer or diesel vessel and cruise to Flüelen on Lake Lucerne 

in about 2,5 hours. While you enjoy lunch (19.- CHF lunch voucher is included) in the first-class restaurant, you can 

watch tranquil bays, picturesque villages and historic landmarks such as the Rütli and the Tellsplatte glide silently by 

on the starboard and port side. In Flüelen, only a few steps away from the pier, board the air-conditioned, first-class 

panorama cars of the Swiss Federal Railways. The trip continues through the awesome Reuss Valley with its deep 

ravines and precipitous cliffs. The world-famous Gotthard line swiftly climbs from 470 to about 1100 meters above 

sea level to finally enter the 15 kilometer long Gotthard tunnel in Göschenen, Europe’s most important north/south 

gateway. Countless spiral and horseshoe tunnels, galleries and bridges testify to the remarkable achievements of the 

men who built this masterpiece of civil engineering. Then, after the 10-minute tunnel passage, you’ll arrive in Ticino. 

In the Leventina Valley, the Wilhelm Tell Express crosses breathtaking cantilevered bridges and passes charming 

villages on its way to Bellinzona. Change here to continue your journey to Lugano. Overnight in Lugano.

On the tracks of the GoldenPass Line 

Lucerne – Interlaken – Montreux 

Combine three of the most attractive regions in Switzerland in one exciting rail holiday on the GoldenPass Line 

from Central Switzerland via the Bernese Oberland to the Lake Geneva region. Two languages, three worlds, six 

lakes, one line: That’s the GoldenPass Line. In Montreux, palm trees and southern ambience still prevail along 

the „Swiss Riviera“. French peppers the air. The golden panorama train squeezes through vineyards and gardens

Day 2: Lucerne – Montreux with GoldenPass Line 

After breakfast short walk to the railway station. The trains of the Zentralbahn are waiting for you for a small trip 

around the world: two languages, three worlds, six lakes, one line – that’s the GoldenPass Line. Starting in the German 

speaking Lucerne region, the journey takes you over the Brünig pass into the Bernese Oberland. Passing Lake 

Brienz and after a short journey you arrive at Interlaken. Along the shores of Lake Thun you reach the Simmen valley 

with Zweisimmenn and the world-renowned holiday resort of Gstaad. French peppers the air. Further on through 

the wild romantic Pays d’Enhaut with the scenic villages of Château d’Oex and Montbovon continues the journey 

through a tunnel before the panoramic view of the Lake Geneva and Montreux opens in front of you. Short walk from 

the railway station to your hotel and overnight in Montreux. 


After your breakfast you may take some more time to explore Montreux and its beautiful surroundings. The town of 

Montreux nestles in a sheltered Lake Geneva bay, surrounded by vineyards and against the breathtaking backdrop

Day 1: Arrival Montreux 

Transfer to Montreux by rail. The town nestles in a sheltered Lake Geneva bay, surrounded by vineyards and against 

breathtaking backdrop of snow-covered Alps. Because of the exceptionally mild climate Montreux is called the capital 

of the Vaud Riviera. Plants associated with the Mediterranean, such as pines, cypresses and palm trees grow 

here. Charlie Chaplin, Freddie Mercury and several other famous people of world-renown lived and continue to live 

on the Vaud Riviera. Overnight in Montreux. 

Day 2: Montreux 

Visit the famous Chateau de Chillon, one of the best-preserved medieval castles in Europe, take a cruise on Lake 

Geneva or enjoy a mountain excursion to the Rochers-de-Naye peak for fantastic views of the lake and the surrounding 

French and Swiss Alps. Overnight in Montreux. 

Day 3: Montreux - Interlaken with GoldenPass Line 

Board the GoldenPass train from Montreux and relax in the panoramic carriage as it sweeps through the many 

vineyards and country estates on its way to Interlaken. Overnight in Interlaken. 

Day 4 & Day 5: Interlaken / Excursion Jungfraujoch 

The choice of day on which you take your excursion to the Jungfraujoch is yours. Take the train from Interlaken to the 

Kleine Scheidegg at the foot of the famous Eiger. Change trains to get on board of the Jungfrau railway und ride via 

‘Eiger Gletscher’ to the Jungfraujoch – the highest railway station in Europe at 3454 m with some breathtaking views 

of the Aletsch glacier, which at 22 km is the longest in the Alps and an UNESCO World Heritage site. Overnight in 

Interlaken. 

Day 6: Interlaken - St. Moritz with Glacier Express (from Brig) 

Depart Interlaken by train to Brig where you will join the Glacier Express for a thrilling ride in the panoramic carriages 

to St. Moritz, taking in some of the most dramatic scenery Switzerland has to offer with commentary explaining the 

amazing engineering feat in overcoming extreme altitude variations by train. Overnight in St. Moritz. 

Day 7: St. Moritz - Tirano with Bernina Express 

Today you will ride on the Bernina Express over the Bernina Pass. Past mighty glaciers and over the highest point 

at 2253 ms down to the palm trees of the mountain village of Tirano (Italy). You have around two hours to visit the 

cathedral and experience some of the exceptional local cuisine on offer in the many cafés and restaurants before 

starting your return journey. Overnight in St. Moritz.

Transfer by rail to Lucerne. Discover the Old Town and stroll along Lake Lucerne – the scenic beauty of the lake can 

be discovered on the many different cruises offered by paddlesteamer and diesel vessels. Overnight in Lucerne.

Transfer by rail to Lucerne and take the opportunity to discover the Old Town and stroll along Lake Lucerne and visit 

the Chapel Bridge. Complete with gable paintings, the covered, medieval Chapel Bridge forms the centrepiece of

Day 1: Arrival Zürich 

After arrival pick-up your car at the airport and drive to your hotel for check in. 

As a «metropolis of experiences» by the water, with a magnificent view of the snowcapped Alps on the horizon, Zürich 

offers a unique mixture of attractions – over 50 museums and more than 100 art galleries, international fashion 

labels and Zurich designs, and the most flamboyant and lively nightlife in Switzerland. Recreational activities range 

from a visit to the riverside and lakeside bathing areas in the very heart of the city, to a spectacular hike on the

After breakfast drive to St. Gallen with a stopover at the Rhine Falls, Europe‘s largest waterfall, feeling the roar and 

vibration of the water over one‘s entire body - this can be experienced at the Rhine Falls near Schaffhausen. Continue 

to St. Gallen. The compact metropolis of eastern Switzerland between Lake Constance and Appenzellerland has 

a charming, traffic-free old town. Colourfully-painted oriel windows are a town feature. The Abbey precinct with the 

cathedral and Abbey Library has been accorded UNESCO World Heritage listing and belongs to the top attractions 

along the Grand Tour.

Day 3: St. Gallen – Davos (ca. 160 km) 

Today you will drive from St. Gallen to Davos. On your way you will pass the village of Appenzell that is situated in 

a singularly beautiful landscape of rolling hills. The Appenzell region is known for rural customs and traditions such 

as the ceremonial descent of the cattle in autumn and cultural events such as folk music and rustic dances, as well 

as hiking tours in the Alpstein region. Continue your drive and have a stopover at `Heidi`s Village` in Maienfeld. The 

town lies in the distinctive Bündner Herrschaft region of Graubünden and inspired the poetess Johanna Spyri to write 

her novel Heidi. In the Heidi village, the story of this cheerful, nature-loving little orphan girl comes to life at the 

original locales of the story. Continue your drive to Davos. 

Overnight in Davos. 

Day 4: Davos – Lugano (ca. 290 km) 

On your way to Lugano in the south of Switzerland you have several possibilities to experience the Grand Tour attractions. 

Tip: Relax on a train ride on the most beautiful Alpine train, the Bernina Express. The cross-border Albula and 

Bernina Lines between Thusis and Tirano owe their 2008 inscription into the UNESCO World Heritage list to stunning 

scenery such as the Schyn Gorge, Morteratsch Glacier and Brusio spiral viaduct. If you prefer to be active do the hike 

on Mount Muottas Muragl near Pontresina. The entire Upper Engadine region lies at your feet when you are perched 

on the hiking mountain high above the Inn River Valley. The breathtaking views of the four lakes and the world-famous 

resort town of St. Moritz extend far beyond the mountain ranges into the distant horizon. Continue to Lugano.

Day 5: Lugano – Zermatt (ca. 215 km) 

Leaving Lugano to Zermatt one must visit Monte Brè. Since 1912 a funicular rail has been making its way from Cassarate 

by Lugano to the scenic mountain above Lake Lugano. Trips up there are worthwhile if just for the views! The 

romantic little Brè village with its grottos has succeeded in maintaining its original character of country settlement 

– further embellished by numerous works of art. 

On your way and just a footstep away lies Ascona. The city is famous for its mild climate, its Old Town and a lake promenade 

which is dotted with street cafés and boasts a Latin ambience. Further north and also on your way you can 

visit beautiful Bellinzona. With its castles, walls, towers, battlements and gates, this impressive fortress is a source of 

wonder and amazement and UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000. 

Depart Mediterranean Ticino, heading north to cross the famous St. Gotthard Pass and Furka Pass and continue into 

the region Valais. Here lies the Aletsch Glacier - the biggest glacier in the Alps, with a length of 23 km. To explore the 

Aletsch Glacier is a magnificent journey into a stunning world of ice and rocks, Alpine flowers and forests. Continue 

moving down to Täsch, last stop for your car before you continue by train on to Zermatt. 


Day 6: Zermatt – Montreux (ca. 150 km) 

Take time this morning to walk through Zermatt, at the foot of the Matterhorn: traditional shops and wooden clad 

houses creating a charming place to explore. A morning trip up the exhilarating open air Gornergrat railway is not 

to be missed, for unrivalled views over the 4000m peaks surrounding Zermatt. After making your way back down to 

Täsch to collect your car, your route begins with a stunning drive up through the Valais, views dominated by amazing 

peaks. The river and forests accompany you as you enter French speaking Switzerland, heading through Sierre 

and Sion. After travelling through Martigny, your final leg takes you up through Aigle and along the shores of Lake 

Geneva to Montreux, one of the most popular holiday resorts in the Lake Geneva region. One must not miss a visit 

to the famous Castle Chillon. The castle is located on a rock on the banks of Lake Geneva. The water castle is the 

most visited historic building in Switzerland. For nearly four centuries Chillon was the residence and profitable toll 

station of the Counts of Savoy.

Day 7: Montreux – Gstaad (ca. 330 km) 

Today you have one of your longest drives but also a very fascinating one with interesting sights to see along your 

way to Gstaad. Continue to the surrounded orchards and terraced vineyards of the Lavaux and further to Lausanne, 

the second-largest city on Lake Geneva. Sports and culture are given a high profile in the Olympic capital. Make sure 

you visit the Olympic Museum. Continue your drive to Freiburg, which is nestled on a rock promontory and surrounded 

on three sides by the Saane River. It is one of the largest medieval towns in Üechtland. Over 200 unique Gothic 

facades from the 15th century impart incomparable medieval charm to the Old Town. Drinking a cup of coffee in a 

leisurely fashion, admiring the old facades and beautiful fountains, listening to two local languages or gazing from 

the 74-meter spire of the Cathedral far into the countryside - this is an experience enjoyed in Fribourg. Further on 

your way you will pass the Greyerzer (Gruyère) region, with its rolling green landscape, it`s peaks of the Fribourg 

Pre-Alps and which is home to the world-famous Gruyère cheese. The picture-book little medieval town of Gruyères 

is perched atop a small hill.

Day 8: Gstaad – Lucerne (ca. 315 km) 

Before you continue to Lucerne enjoy the beautiful scenery of the chalet village Gstaad, which attracts countless 

stars and starlets. Continue your drive to Interlaken. Enjoy a lake cruise on the turquoise Lake Brienz and neighbouring 

Lake Thun that are situated in the spectacular mountain setting of the Bernese Oberland. From Interlaken you 

can experience the majestic Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau summits, together with close-up views of the longest glacial 

flow. The Jungfrau railway travels from the heart of the mountains to Europe’s highest lying mountain station at 3454 

meters altitude. If you have some time left before you head to Lucerne, Bern is the place to spend it. Not many 

cities have managed to retain their historic features quite as successfully as Bern, the capital of Switzerland. The old

Day 9: Departure Lucerne - Zürich (ca. 140 km) 

You will spend your last day in one of the nicest cities in Switzerland. Lucerne is the gateway to central Switzerland at 

Lake Lucerne and it is embedded within an impressive mountainous panorama. Thanks to its attractions, its souvenir 

and watch shops, the beautiful lakeside setting and the nearby excursion mountains of Rigi, Pilatus and Stanserhorn, 

the town is a destination for many travel groups and individuals on their journey through central Switzerland. One of 

the highlights along the Grand Tour lies in Lucerne - the Chapel Bridge. The covered, wooden pedestrian walkway 

on the Chapel Bridge was built in the 14th century. In 1993 the bridge burned down but it was reconstructed true to 

the original. This large fire hit the international headlines. Do visit this landmark bridge.

After arrival in Zürich take the train and go to your hotel for check in. 

As a «metropolis of experiences» by the water, with a magnificent view of the snowcapped Alps on the horizon, Zürich 

offers a unique mixture of attractions – over 50 museums and more than 100 art galleries, international fashion 

labels and Zürich designs, and the most flamboyant and lively nightlife in Switzerland. Depending on your arrival 

time you have time to discover the world famous shopping mile Bahnhofstrasse or stroll along the banks of Lake 

Zürich. 


Day 2: Zürich – Interlaken (GoldenPass Line Lucerne - Interlaken) 

Train travel to Lucerne. When boarding the Luzern–Interlaken Express, you are about to go on an unforgettable journey 

right into the heart of Switzerland. This two-hour ride will take you along the shores of crystal-clear lakes, past 

romantic waterfalls and over the magnificent Brünig mountain pass. After a short journey you arrive in Interlaken. The 

city lies in the Bernese Oberland on an alluvial plain, between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. The vacation destination 

is presided over by the three mighty mountains, Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. 

Overnight in Interlaken. 

Day 3: Interlaken – Montreux (Jungfraujoch & GoldenPass Line Interlaken - Montreux) 

Take the train from Interlaken to the Kleine Scheidegg at the foot of the famous Eiger. Change trains to get on board 

the Jungfrau railway and ride via ‘Eiger Gletscher’ to the Jungfraujoch – the highest railway station in Europe at 

3454 m with some breathtaking views of the Aletsch Glacier with 22 km the longest in the Alps and UNESCO World 

Heritage Site. In the early evening your journey on the Golden Pass Line continues. Along the shores of Lake Thun 

you reach the Simmen valley with Zweisimmen and the world known holiday resort of Gstaad. Further on passing 

the wild romantic Pays d’Enhaut with the scenic villages of Château d’Oex and Montbovon the journey continues 

through a tunnel before the panoramic view of Lake Geneva and Montreux opens in front of you. 


Day 4: Montreux – Zermatt 

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and afterwards travel from Montreux to Zermatt. The rest of the day is at your disposal. 

Zermatt lies at the foot of the Matterhorn. The vacation destination is a car-free village and has preserved its original 

character. After arriving in Zermatt you have the possibility to do a non guided excursion to the Gornergrat. Or you 

enjoy your leisure time to go hiking and do some souvenir shoppping.

Day 5: Zermatt – St. Moritz (Glacier Express) 

In the morning you take the world famous Glacier Express for a thrilling ride in the panorama carriage to St. Moritz. 

Take in some of the dramatic scenery Switzerland has to offer. Along the deep Rhone valley, the Glacier Express 

travels through an incredibly fascinating part of the Alps. The train drives on over the Oberalp pass (2,033m/6,670ft) 

and through the impressive Rhine gorge. After an exhilarating trip, you will arrive in St. Moritz. 


Day 6: St. Moritz – Lugano (Bernina Express) 

Board the narrow-gauge Bernina Express in St. Moritz station and enjoy one of the most impressive scenic rail journeys 

Switzerland offers. Travel over circular viaducts and pass through winding tunnels before reaching Tirano in Italy 

which is the end of the Bernina Express rail line. Change to the Bernina Express Bus which will take you onwards to 

Ticino. The Journey ends in Lugano – southern Switzerland’s largest town. 

Overnight in Lugano. 

Day 7: Lugano – Lucerne (Wilhelm Tell Express) 

With the Wilhelm Tell Express you travel from the Mediterranean south to the traditional heart of Switzerland. The 

journey takes you along the spectacular Gotthard route – an unforgettable trip through an impressive countryside. 

You will travel by 1st class panorama carriage from Bellinzona to Flüelen. A visit of Bellinzona is worth a stop and a 

recommended Grand Tour attraction. With its castles, walls, towers, battlements and gates, this impressive fortress is 

a source of wonder and amazement and UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000. Continue your train journey. The 

train winds its way from 470 to 1100 metres altitude, disappearing into the 15-kilometre Gotthard Tunnel. In Flüelen 

board the historic Wilhelm Tell paddle steamer for the cruise across Lake Lucerne. Voucher (19.- CHF) is included 

for lunch and served on board. 


Day 8: Departure Lucerne 

After your breakfast train transfer back to Zurich airport or depending on your departure time possibility to visit 

Mount Pilatus or to do the Voralpen-Express excursion. 

Tip: Voralpen-Express 

Travelling by the Voralpen-Express introduces you to a Switzerland of gently undulating hills, picture-perfect villages 

and mellow orchards. With the Voralpen-Express, you cross over the highest railway bridge in Switzerland. It’s the 

99-metre high Sitter viaduct near St. Gallen. The city`s most famous landmark is its Baroque cathedral with the 

Abbey Library, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1983. Travel back to Lucerne. 

Tip: Mount Pilatus 

This is a fantastic excursion to enjoy beautiful views of the Lake Lucerne region. Short cruise across the lake to 

Alpnachstad. Change here to the steepest cogwheel train in the world. For the return journey chose between cogwheel 

train or gondola to Kriens. Back to Lucerne by bus. 

Tip: Gornergrat 

Over 20 gigantic 4000 and more meter-high peaks surround the rocky ridge between the Findelen and Gornergletscher, 

at 1500 meters above Zermatt. Since over a century a cog railway has made its way here – and still does today, 

every 24 minutes. From the 3135 meter-high viewing platform accessible year-round, views extend over the Gorner 

Glacier to Monte Rosa with its ten snow-capped summits and notorious Matterhorn.

Hike & Rail on the Glacier Express Route 

Zermatt – St. Moritz 

Glacier Express by rail & hike – that is by train as before, now also on foot through the most beautiful stretches. How 

is this possible? It is simple: You do not cross the stretch in 8 hours as a «tourist» in a rush, but you take six hiking 

days. In addition, your luggage will be transported from one accommodation to the other. Therefore you sit in the 

train unencumbered – and can disembark from the train at any station to walk a stretch and then take one of the next 

trains (the usual trains run at hourly intervals). Follow your whim, the weather and make your choice according to your 

physical comfort – as you also have a train pass for this stretch that allows you to use the railway when you wish. Moreover,

Day 2: Briefing / Transfer 

Transfer with SwissTrails minibus to Zermatt. Hourly (XX: 39) trains going to Brig. Recommended hiking stage: Valais 

sun trail No. 61, Ausserberg - Brig. While saffron dishes are a great attraction in Safrans’ village Mund, it is the 

Stockalper palace with its gardens, towers and arcade courtyard, which is a major attraction in Birg. Alight at: Eyholz 

station, walk to Lalden and on the Valais sun trail up to Brig. Overnight. 

Day 3: Railway Stretch Brig - Oberwald 

Hike on the Alpine passes trail no. 6 through the beautiful villages of the Goms: e.g. from Blitzingen to Ulrichen: On 

the sunny side above the Rhone through the Goms. Without much difference in altitudes along mountain slopes through 

woods and alpine meadows with a view of sunburnt old barns and stores. A view of the valley with the villages 

and the conspicuously compact construction of the houses. Overnight. 

Day 4: Railway Stretch Oberwald - Distentis 

Hiking along the Senda Sursilvana, e.g. from Andermatt to Oberalppass: A stage that will be particularly appreciated 

by plant lovers. Even those interested in Geology will be drawn to look up repeatedly at the crystalline mountain 

peaks. The interesting location of the trail makes this section one of the crowning stages of the route. 

Day 5: Railway Stretch Disentis - Thusis 

Hike, e.g. from Ilanz through the Rhine gorge (the “Swiss Grand Canyon») to Tamins: The Rhine gorge is an impressive 

witness to the largest mapped rockslide of the Alps. It is a particularly impressive sight from the bridge that leads 

through the Versamer Tobel. The huge washing well of Valendas is also interesting. 

Day 6: Railway Stretch Thusis - Bergün 

Walk on the hiking trail Albula/Bernina No. 33:This stage starts in Filisur at the historical heart of the village. Passing 

the dancing witches of Bellaluna, the trail climbs up to the best-maintained historical train station of Stugl. The destination 

Bergün with its Engadine houses is considered the Mecca of train lovers. 

Day 7: Railway Stretch Bergün - St. Moritz 

Hiking, e.g. Bergün - Preda: Hike through a true engineering marvel. The hiking route follows the banks of the Albula 

and crosses the railroad several times. The railroad shows the boldest railway rail routing in this section. The rail experience 

trail exemplifies this hundred-year-old masterpiec of railway engineering.

Day 2: Cycling Meiringen - Interlaken (30 Km) 

Tour briefing and transfer to the starting point of the tour. Cycle along icy mountain peaks, foaming waterfalls such as

chalets and maybe even take a dive into the icy waters of Lake Brienz. Overnight in Interlaken. 

Day 3: Cycling Interlaken - Thun (30 Km) 

Today‘s route offers a variety of scenery from snow-covered peaks, deep blue waters and vineyards. Our tipp: Take 

the post bus to Beatenberg to the magnificent panorama route with views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Overnight 

around Thun. 

Day 4: Cycling Thun - Bern (30 Km) 

Enjoy an unobstructed view over the wide plains of the Aare Valley as you journey towards the centre of Bern, the 

capital city of Switzerland. Overnight around Bern. 

Day 5: Cycling Bern - Biel (50 Km) 

The vegetable-growing region in the Grossen Moos and the Lake of Biel mark the scenery of today‘s route. A short 

break in the pretty little town of Aarberg is worthwhile. Overnight around Biel. 

Day 6: Cycling Biel - Solothurn (34 Km) 

Between Biel and Büren the Aare River winds its way through a fertile region, forming many loops, towards the city 

of Solothurn. You might even get the chance to see the storks circling the skies. Overnight around Solothurn. 

Day 7: Cycling Solothurn - Aarau (53 Km) 

Today continue to the medieval town of Wangen and enjoy a leisurely ride through an enchanting river landscape 

between Berken, Aarwangen and Wolfwil. Visit the pedestrian zones in Olten‘s old town before your day ends in 

Aarau.

Day 1: Arrival Locarno 

Transfer by train from the airport/border to Locarno. Spend the rest of the day to explore the city`s beauties - 

southern plants such as palm trees or lemon trees flourish in Locarno and give the city its special charm. The heart of 

the city is the Piazza Grande, well-known for its annual film festival. The narrow lanes of the Old Town all lead to the 

Piazza. Castello Visconteo, a castle dating back to the 12th century, lies at the edge of the Old Town. About a fifth 

of the castle has been preserved in its original state. 

Overnight Locarno. 

Day 2: Locarno - Verzasca Valley / Bungy Jump 

After breakfast start your journey to the Verzasca valley where you will enjoy a lifetime experience. The post bus 

takes you in 20 minutes from Locarno station directly to the Verzasca dam, your meeting point for the 007 Bungy 

Jump. You need to be at the meeting point 15 minutes prior to the scheduled jump. You will need to plan approximately 

30 minutes for registration, training and the actual jump. The jump action itself lasts approximately 5 minutes. 

Your jumping time will be advised at the time of booking. 

Return back to Locarno by post bus. Overnight in Locarno.

Bookings 

Please send your booking request to touroperating@stc.ch. All packages can be booked freesale 

up to 7 days prior arrival, thereafter on request.This excludes black-out dates for fairs, congresses 

and special events. Child prices is available on request only. Confirmed bookings can only be cancelled 

as per below cancellation conditions. 

Commission 

STC pays the following commission on gross amounts stated in attached FIT offers: 

• 20% to tour operators and wholesalers 

• 10% to travel agencies 

The commission will be deducted and net amount invoiced. 

Payment 

The full amount of the tour must be received by STC prior to the first departure day of the tour. 

If the payment is not being received 3 working days prior to the start of the tour, we reserve the 

right to cancel the services. For bookings made within 14 days before departure, full credit card 

payment will be required.
