Who the course is for<br />

The WorldSkills UK Beauty Therapy competition<br />

focuses on the role and tasks of a beauty therapist.<br />

Competitors carry out a range of treatments which<br />

reflect both current and traditional beauty therapy<br />

treatments. The competitors will be expected to<br />

demonstrate their skills in some of the following:<br />

warm waxing, manicure and facial plus make-up<br />

and consultation, body faradic treatment, full body<br />

massage and facial galvanic treatment. The students<br />

will have to do this in a timed situation and so will<br />

be under the pressure of the clock as well as the<br />

competition from their peers.<br />

• Overview of WorldSkills<br />

• Back to basics techniques<br />

• Competitor appearance and posture<br />

• Preparation of working area<br />

• Tips and tricks to ensure everything is carried out to a<br />

very high standard<br />

• Tips and tricks for Manicure and Pedicure<br />

• Tips and tricks for Facials, waxing, make-up, face and<br />

electrical equipment and body massage.<br />

• Progression into WorldSkills international competitions<br />

Centre to provide couch, trolley, paper disposables<br />

and towels and all relevant equipment and products<br />

6 hours of CPD<br />

VTCT Beauty Therapy lecturers and students who want to<br />

enter the competition.<br />

This can be carried out as practical session with both<br />

Level 2 & 3 students working on each other.<br />

Delegates will have developed various techniques to<br />

carry out skills to a high standard and have confidence<br />

to enter the UK competitions.<br />

£500 per course (note the cost is not per person) for up to a<br />

maximum of 16 students + lecturers<br />

Course delivered by Sue Simpson<br />

Sue has 40 years of experience as a therapist, salon owner, lecturer,<br />

practical examiner, assessor, internal and external quality assurer.<br />

She works as the Chief Expert for WorldSkills International and an<br />

independent consultant beauty therapist using her wealth of knowledge<br />

and skills to organise the deliver high quality training programmes.<br />

Sue will be accompanied by a past WorldSkills International Competitor.<br />
