MONT-BLANC<br />

The Mont-Blanc tunnel runs from Chamonix in France to Courmayeur in Italy. The tunnel<br />

is 11.6 kilometres long, the entrance on French side is on 1.274 metres altitude and<br />

on the Italian side on 1.381 metres above sea level. The tunnel was opened on the<br />

19th of July 1965 and since it forms a unique connection between two historically<br />

and economically important European areas.<br />

For maintenance of the tunnel <strong>toll</strong> is charged. Two <strong>toll</strong> road companies, ATMB and SITMB are<br />
