NEED A TRUCK, NEED IT NOW.
CALL TOYOTA SHORT-TERM HIRE
Toyota Material Handling has
added over 250 new counterbalance
forklifts to its short-term hire fleet.
Toyota has expanded its 3000 strong
fleet of short-term hire trucks to include
250 new counterbalance forklifts to help
satisfy demand for planned and emergency
short-term hire needs. The new
trucks include Toyota's latest range of
Tonero engine-powered forklifts and
Traigo electric-powered forklifts, which
are fitted with Toyota System of Active
Stability, helping to improve safety and
productivity.
The new counterbalance forklift
trucks were delivered at the start of the
New Year and are available for hire now.
Alan Sowersby, Business Solutions
Director for Toyota Material Handling
UK said "Often customers need shortterm
hire trucks as an emergency
replacement or if they have unexpected
demand, therefore they need a reliable
and efficient supplier. By analysing our
customers' requirements, we have
increased our fleet in the areas where we
have the most demand. Companies need
short-term hire trucks for a variety of reasons
and we want to ensure we have the
right trucks available, when they need it".
Toyota Material Handling UK is able
provide a wide range of short-term hire
options from a single day to several
months, including hand pallet trucks,
counterbalance forklifts and a range of
warehouse trucks.
Sowersby adds "In addition to the new
trucks, we have also developed the shortterm
hire fleets that are located at our
regional depots. These depots hold trucks
that suit the local industry and customer
requirements, allowing us to provide quick
and efficient 24 hour delivery. All this new
activity has coincided with our latest developments
on the internet where a customer
can now chat live online to our short-term
hire team to enquire or order a truck."
Online service, now that's worth
chatting about
The new online chat service is accessible
via www.ForkliftHireNow.co.uk
and available during standard working
hours. Chat Centre offers visitors three
options of making contact with Toyota:
chat, email and telephone. Chat Centre
gives website visitors looking for a
short-term hire truck the chance to
make immediate contact with a member
of the hire team, which is important
when they need a truck quickly and
want an immediate response.
The UK’s favourite slimming club,
Slimming World, has significantly
improved handling and storage procedures
at its headquarters in Alfreton
after taking delivery of two Aisle-
Master articulated forklifts. The
vehicles will be used in the company’s
newly built warehouse facility.
Slimming World has experienced phenomenal
growth recently - 40% year on
year since 2008 - and the increased
volume of marketing materials, books,
newsletters, Slimming World Magazine
and hi-fi cereal bars to support 3,000
franchised Consultants who run 8,000
groups resulted in the need for a new
look at warehousing operations.
“We used to have a lot of off site
storage”, explains Facilities Manager
Paul James. “But as we had land available
we decided to relocate everything
under one roof. This has consolidated
our ordering systems, reduced distribution
costs and lowered our carbon
footprint.” As Slimming World was
starting with a clean sheet it consulted
Kevin White from Langley Mechanical
Handling to assist with getting the best
specifications all round for optimum performance
from the 1,400m² purpose built
warehouse.
The choice of forklifts was obviously a
key issue, and initial thoughts of a reach
truck were discounted when Kevin
demonstrated the advantages of the
Aisle-Master. “We were won over by its
versatility to work inside and out as well
as the opportunity to save space,” says
Paul. “Although we have ample pallet
space at the moment we wanted to
future proof our operations. The trucks’
ability to work in very narrow aisles
means that even if growth continues at
this rate we are assured of plenty of
room.” The current pallet count of 1,600
is 30% up on what could have been
achieved with reach trucks.
Slimming World despatches more
than 400,000 parcels each year to
Consultants across the British Aisles and
Ireland. Materials range from display
boards, leaflets and posters to recipe
books, high fibre cereal bars and best
selling Slimming World magazine. The
Aisle-Masters work outside for on and
off loading (often problematic with reach
trucks due to their tyres) and can then
drive directly into the narrow aisles to
deposit pallets in the racking, which has
a top height of 7.5m. The two AC electric
powered trucks are the latest models to
be developed by Aisle-Master’s parent
company Combilift, featuring the new
ergonomically improved cab and controls
as well as “over articulation” which
enables easy and accurate pallet placement
when operating in extremely
narrow aisles.
Aisle-Masters can work in aisles of
just 1.75m, have capacities of up to 2.5
tonnes, lift heights of up to 12.5 metres,
with a choice of AC electric or LPG
SLIMMING DOWN WITH AISLE-MASTERS
The Jungheinrich stand at this year’s
Logistics Link exhibition featured
examples from the company’s EFG
range of electric counterbalance forklift
trucks.
The EFG trucks feature fourth generation
AC technology - which means that
they offer class leading performance and
the lowest running costs.
Ultra environmentally friendly,
Jungheinrich’s fourth generation AC
technology ensures that the EFG range
achieves constantly low battery consumption.
Energy costs are further
reduced thanks to energy reclamation
during braking so that, in most applications,
a truck will operate for two shifts
without the need for a battery change.
In fact, according to independent tests,
during a typical shift the EFG will
9
power. Also new to the range is the
narrow chassis 1,500 kg capacity 15E
model, able to work in even tighter aisles
for more space saving handling and
storage. A parts warranty of 5 years or
5,000 hours now offers even more peace
of mind for users and underlines the
extreme reliability of the range.
operate for up to half an hour longer
before a battery charge is required than
certain of its competitors. This could
equate to de-stacking an extra lorry load.
The efficiency and high productivity
of the EFG trucks when
compared with other manufacturers’
models is illustrated on a short video
