opponent over their years in Brampton and North
Bay. The sting of the playoff loss to the Battalion
last year has nearly faded–the Frontenacs have
won all three of their matchups vs. North Bay this
season with the final regular season tilt coming
tonight. While the history makes the game story
interesting on some levels, tonight’s matchup has
plenty on the line–for both teams.
The Battalion, in 3rd place–tied with Niagara–
are 10 points behind the Frontenacs in the Eastern
Conference. With 26 wins, 17 regulation losses, 4
overtime losses, and 4 shootout losses, the Battalion
have found consistency in their game with
6 wins, 1 regulation loss, 2 overtime losses, and 1
shootout loss in their past 10 games. They are the
perfect example of why the extra point even in a
shootout loss or overtime loss are key as they sit 4
points ahead of the Ottawa 67’s.
The Frontenacs, still the hottest team in the
East, are in the middle of a weekend that will set
the stage for the post-season. After 51 games this
season, the Frontenacs have 33 wins, 14 regulation
losses, 2 overtime losses, and 2 shootout
losses, good for 70 points, a 2 point lead on Barrie
for top spot in the Eastern Conference. In the East
Division, the Frontenacs have wide 12 point lead
over the Ottawa 67’s. In their past 10 games, the
Frontenacs have 7 wins, 2 regulation losses, and
1 shootout loss.
HOME ICE ADVANTAGE: Looking at the past 10
games for both teams shows a similar story: Kingston
is 7-2-0-1 and North Bay is 6-1-2-1. But factor
in each teams last 10 games at home and away,
and give the Frontenacs the edge with a 7-3-0-0
in their past 10 games at Rogers K-Rock Centre
and the Battalion with only 3-2-3-2 in their past 10
