THE CRYSTAL SALOON; ENUMCLAW, WA
Get ur DJ Robby fix
features
at the Crystal Saloon By Ty Hughes
The best part of my job is gettin’
out there, meetin’ new people and seeing
so many different venues, system
designs, layouts and themes, each
with their own attitude. Let me tell
ya ‘bout a place in Enumclaw that’s
definitely got attitude and that’s the
all-new Crystal Saloon. Under the direction
of DJ Robby the rowdy rocker,
local host for 15 years, the Crystal
Saloon is puttin’ on a show worth seeing.
The stage is all dressed in flowing
black drapes for an urban music club
sensation, which suits Robby’s style
perfectly, telling me people know him
as the, “man with the guy-liner”. His
rocker style is polished and fitting, so
is his voice, man! Dude can flat sing!
He’s been in a number of bands over
the years and jammed with some of
the industry’s best. Coming over from
the Carbonado Saloon to the Crystal
a year ago, DJ Robby likes his new
digs. Giving credit to Cordel James
for training him in the field, Robby
has utmost respect for Cordel and his
accomplishments.
The sound system is truly incredible,
talkin’ BIG sound. Robby’s
working with some of the newest
sound and video technology from his
booth, elevated by a couple feet in the
center of the bar. One of his favorite
Brandy and Lacey duke it out
is being able to offer professionally
mastered video reproductions
by Crystal Saloon’s Scott, where he’s
created the video for your karaoke
songs completely from scratch!
The Crystal Saloon is a massive
bar with several different concepts going
on. They’ve got a real mechanical
bull set up to run on the weekends.
I hear that’s a blast. And ladies, be
sure to wear those sweaters, or not –
Robby says he’s seen more than one
“exposure”.
There’s a pool room, which stays
real busy. The bar sort of juts out into
the center of the place and is highlighted
with a full-sized antique police
car resting overhead. Sedona keeps
the bar running smoothly under the
cruiser. Every once in a while, she’ll
get up there and sing a tune.
Also known as the singing bartender,
Dennis loves to get up there
and stretch his cords.
But don’t be fooled, it’s DJ Robby
in charge of the show here. He creates
duets by pairing up two random
singers based on their styles, and it
always sounds amazing. Robby’s got
a good ear for music and has obviously
made it his living. He’ll have you
choose three or four songs, or maybe
he’ll even pick out a couple of his own
for you to sing, and he’ll often keep a
singer up there for a few songs at a
time. It’s a loose and fun atmosphere
that Robby’s created around his show.
They love it, and they love him just
the way he is. He brings a fun show,
making everybody feel included.
