Danone’s<br />
mission is to “bring health through food<br />
to as many people as possible.” The company<br />
applies this societal mission to the four businesses<br />
it operates in: Dairy products, Water, Early Life<br />
Nutrition and Medical nutrition. In each of them<br />
it focuses on providing healthy and high quality<br />
products.<br />
Danone’s mission and core business connects it at<br />
a global level to a set of major societal stakes linked<br />
to hunger alleviation, global improvement in health<br />
and nutrition awareness. Due to the specificity of<br />
its production processes and value chain, Danone<br />
also deals on the upstream, with critical issues<br />
related to agriculture and on the downstream with<br />
waste management. As women play a key role in<br />
each of these domains, in addition to being the<br />
ones responsible for buying food in most families,<br />
their condition and Danone’s activities and societal<br />
mission are closely linked.<br />
