Czech Business Forum<br />

The objective of the Mauritius-Czech Business Forum,<br />

organized by the MCCI and the Czech Chamber of Commerce<br />

in collaboration with the Board of Investment and Enterprise<br />

Mauritius, was to discuss avenues of cooperation in the<br />

fields of trade and investment between Mauritius and the<br />

Czech Republic.<br />

A high-level delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs<br />

of the Czech Republic, Mr. Lubomir Zaoralek, was present<br />

at the Business Forum, which was held on 29 May 2015 at<br />

Maritim Hotel, Balaclava. It offered an excellent platform<br />

for Mauritian and Czech business people to discuss new<br />

business opportunities between the two countries.<br />

Maldives Delegation<br />

The MCCI received the visit of a Maldivian delegation<br />

comprising representatives of Capital Market Development<br />

Authority, Maldives Stock Exchange & Maldives Securities<br />

Depository, Securities Market Operations/Stock Exchange<br />

and Maldives Transport & Contracting Company PLC for<br />

an information session entitled “Opportunities in Maldives<br />

financial sector”. Business members of the financial sector<br />

were invited to participate.<br />

The Mauritian business community was sensitized on the<br />

investment opportunities in Maldives while the Maldivians<br />

explored areas of collaboration with the Mauritian financial<br />

sector.<br />

Mr. Azim Currimjee, the Vice-President of the MCCI, pointed<br />

out that one of our leading banks has already an established<br />

branch in the Maldives and same goes for a few of our hotel<br />

Mr. Eduard Muřický also attended the event.<br />

Following the Business Meet, both parties have explored new<br />

business opportunities and are on the same wavelength for<br />

further collaborations.<br />

chains, and encouraged participants to take full advantage<br />

of the benefits available to them though SADC, COMESA and<br />

SAARC for further business collaboration between the two<br />

countries.<br />

Mr. Ahmed Naseer, CEO of Capital Market Development<br />

Authority and leader of the delegation emphasized on the<br />

2015–2019 strategic plan put forward by the government<br />

of Maldives to enhance economic development. In this light,<br />

the Maldivians proposed investment opportunities in several<br />

sectors, mainly logistics, construction, real estate and<br />

tourism.<br />
