Festival season is like Marti Gras in
Rio, 420 in Redwood Park, Arcata
circa 2009 and Chicago in the 1920s
all rolled into one big, fat, good time.
Think hippies dancing all wiggly jiggly,
visual art bombarding your neurons,
swimming holes aplenty and sweet
music pounding out of stacks the size
of Mt. Everest. Welcome to Hydrolife’s
Best. Summer. Ever.
One summer a few years back,
I spent every week driving
from music festival to music
festival and every weekend
partying like a caterpillar on a
strict diet of Red Bull. Over the
course of 16 weeks, my partner
Alicia and I put thousands of
miles on my beat-up old Toyota
pickup, and a few hundred
miles on our bodies.
We hit 10 different festivals,
which felt like a massive accomplishment.
We learned there is
nothing like spending the summer
traipsing around with nothing but
a tent, some sort of noise cannon
and a few ounces of my finest. So,
without further introduction, here
are 14 festival suggestions in four
canna-friendly states to ensure
you have a blast all summer long.
