B. All decorative materials in atriums shall be noncombustible or shall be flame<br />

retardant treated and be so maintained. Devices generating an open flame shall be<br />

approved by the Fire Chief prior to use.<br />

5.0236 RESERVED FOR FUTURE USE<br />

5.0237 SMOKE DETECTORS<br />

A. Wisconsin Statutes Section 101.145, as amended, (which requires smoke<br />

detectors in residential buildings, including but not limited to apartment houses,<br />

rooming houses, hotels, children's homes, community based residential<br />

facilities, and dormitories, but excluding hospitals and nursing homes) is hereby<br />

adopted and incorporated into this section by reference. Except that any<br />

reference to "the Department" in said statute shall be amended to read "City".<br />

B. Wisconsin Statutes Section 101.61 and 101.645, as amended, and statutes cited<br />

therein, as amended, (which require smoke detectors in one and one- and twofamily<br />

homes, residences, or sleeping places) are hereby adopted and<br />

incorporated into this section by reference. Except that any reference to "the<br />

Department" in said statutes shall be amended to read "City".<br />

5.0238 MISCELLANEOUS STANDARDS<br />

A. Interior finishes and flammable and decorative materials installed in public<br />

buildings and places of employment shall comply with the most current version<br />

of Department of Commerce <strong>Chapter</strong> 14, and applicable standards referenced<br />

therein.<br />

B. Fabric decorations used in theatres and assembly halls shall be flameproofed.<br />

Fabrics shall have a tag permanently affixed to each separate piece from a<br />

legally designated testing facility proving it’s fire resistance. After market<br />

“flame proofing” products are not permitted unless approved by the Authority<br />

having jurisdiction as set forth under the most current revision of Department of<br />

Commerce Code <strong>Chapter</strong> 14 and applicable references.<br />

C. The use of paper decorations, confetti or flammable decorative material shall<br />

be prohibited.<br />

5.0239 CHRISTMAS TREES<br />

Artificial Christmas trees, except those within individual living units, shall be flame<br />

retardant or nonflammable. In most cases, the display of natural cut Christmas trees,<br />

as well as any other combustible vegetation, in any public building is against<br />

Wisconsin Department of Commerce Fire Prevention Codes. (Ordinance 2008-2134<br />

adopted 10-7-08)<br />

5.0240 INVESTIGATION OF FIRES<br />
